The July 21-27 warehouse scorecard: Costco owns the bridge sale, Sam's owns the TV doorbusters, BJ's owns the pump

This is a calendar week, not a loyalty test. Costco's official Weekly Warehouse Insider has a 24-deal bridge sale that runs mostly through Sunday, July 26. Sam's July Instant Savings Book runs July 22-August 16, with a separate July 24-26 Weekend Doorbusters window and early access for Plus members. BJ's public Deals page exposes active savings lanes, but its readable page does not expose a current item-by-item coupon book. 1 2 3

The practical verdict: shop Costco for the known grocery and household markdowns before Sunday; set an alarm for Sam's July 24-26 TV window if you need electronics; use BJ's for gas if it is already on your route. The strict-sale filter produces one defensible same-brand pantry comparison and several category calls, not five honest apples-to-apples SKU rows. That is a data result, not a reason to turn regular prices into fake deals.

A second Lenovo V15 option is also shown, but its displayed net price is not readable in the source panel. 2	One laptop is a sensible replacement; a second one is not a bargain unless it has a job.
Gas	BJ's, if nearby	BJ's current chain tracker lists a July 21 U.S. regular average of $3.777 across 202 stations. AAA's July 21 national regular average is $4.019, a 24.2-cent gap before BJ's Club+ or card discounts. 4 5	The route matters more than the headline spread. Do not burn 24 cents per gallon in extra miles.
New paid upgrade	Sam's Plus for the first year	Sam's is showing $55 for Plus and $25 for Club for new members who join July 6-31, versus regular prices of $120 and $60. Plus includes 2% Sam's Cash and free shipping on eligible orders over $50. 6 7	The $30 first-year Plus spread is easy to justify if you will shop there anyway. It is not a reason to buy perishables you cannot use.

Category comparison

Food

Costco has the fuller, more measurable pantry sheet. The headline bridge item is Rao's Homemade Marinara Sauce, 31.7 oz, 2-count, $3.30 off through July 26. Costco also has Goodles Mac & Cheese, 6 oz, 8-count, $3.30 off through August 16; Skippy or Jif peanut butter, 2-count, $3.30 off through August 2; and Spindrift sparkling water, 12 fl oz, 30-count, $4.20 off through July 26. The official page shows the exact validity dates, but it does not show regular and net prices for these rows. 1

Sam's starts its book on July 22. The readable book panel confirms $2 off GoGo Squeez Apple Apple variety packs, 3.2 oz, 32-pack; $2 off Jif peanut butter, 48 oz, 2-pack; $2 off That's It Fiber Bars Crunchables; $3 off IQ Protein Bars; $4 off Built Bars or Zbar; and $1.50 off Capri Sun or Waterloo sparkling water. It also shows the pack sizes where the source makes them legible, but not a net price for every food row. 2

The only clean same-brand check here is Jif, and even that needs a size caveat. Costco has the larger stated discount; Sam's gives the more explicit 48 oz, 2-pack size. Do not translate $3.30 versus $2 into a unit-price verdict until the Costco tub size is visible in your club or app. Costco wins the coupon-dollar headline, not necessarily the shelf-price math.

Costco also has a new lower price on Kirkland Signature USDA Choice beef strip loin, $9.99 per pound through August 9. That is a posted price, not a marked-down item, so it does not qualify for the strict cross-chain sale table. For a 1-2 person household, skip a whole strip loin unless you have a freezing and portioning plan or a second household to share it with.

Household consumables

Costco's strongest household rows are specific and time-limited: Blueland Dishwasher Detergent Tablets, 110-count, $19.99 after $5 off through July 26; Glad Take-Aways 38 oz rectangular food-storage containers, 35-set, $7.99 after $3 off through August 2; Poo-Pourri variety pack, 3.4 fl oz, 3-count, $14.99 after $5 off through August 9; and Gillette Venus Ultra Smooth Razor, 11-count, $6 off through July 26. 1

Sam's page 7 has Ziploc freezer or sandwich bags at $2.75 off, but the source panel does not show a net price. That is a real instant saving, not a permanent-price Member's Mark item, yet it is not a same-SKU match for Costco's Glad containers. The sensible call is Costco for a known net price and Sam's for Ziploc only if the bag count matches your actual use.

For one or two people, 35 storage containers is a lot. The dishwasher tablets are easier to justify if you already use that format; do not let a three-dollar container discount dictate your kitchen inventory.

Electronics

This is Sam's week, but it is a three-day sprint. The July 24-26 doorbuster page lists the Vizio 100-inch QLED at $998 after $500 off, a Samsung 55-inch Class 4K LED Smart TV at $277.99 after $50 off $327.99, an LG 34-inch UltraWide IPS 100Hz monitor at $169 after $60 off $229 online only, Pioneer A50 hybrid noise-canceling headphones at $59.88 after $40 off $99.88, and the Lenovo IdeaPad at $399 after $100 off $499. Plus members shop the doorbusters early, and the catalog says supplies last. 2

Costco's official July 20-26 page has no comparable current TV, monitor, or laptop markdown. BJ's public page exposes a TV and electronics deal category but no readable item-level row. No one should call a three-chain electronics winner from category links alone. The actionable winner for a known, priced deal is Sam's, beginning Friday.

Tires

No national tire winner clears the evidence bar. BJ's Deals page advertises up to $160 off tires, but the readable page does not provide a current qualifying brand, expiration date, or transaction terms. Costco's official weekly page does not show a specific tire-dollar-off row, and Sam's current book pages reviewed here do not show a comparable tire offer. Quote the exact tire size and installed total locally; do not turn a generic "up to" banner into a weekly verdict. 3 1

Travel

Costco is the only chain with a current, readable travel tile in the weekly source: a Maui Fairmont Kea Lani package with included extras valued at $1,165 for stays of five or more nights. The page does not present it as a same-product coupon comparison with Sam's or BJ's. BJ's current Deals page shows balcony-stateroom cruises with up to $100 to spend onboard, but it does not expose a booking window or full terms in the readable body. Treat both as service leads, not ranked cross-chain savings. 1 3

Gas

BJ's has the only current chainwide member-pump number in this pass: $3.777 per gallon regular on July 21 across 202 stations. AAA's national regular average was $4.019 the same day. BJ's says Club+ adds another 5 cents per gallon, while its membership comparison page says all members save about 20 cents per gallon on average versus broader market pricing. Costco and Sam's publish member-only fuel pricing by location, but I did not find a comparable national feed readable enough to put beside BJ's without mixing geographies. 4 8 5

BJ's is the pump stop, with one condition: it has to be on the route. Fill up while you are already there; do not make a dedicated cross-town trip for a national-average comparison that may not match your local station.

Cherry-picker's route

Costco before Sunday, July 26. Start with Rao's if you use it, the Goodles 8-count if it fits your pantry, Jif or Skippy only after checking the tub size, and Blueland tablets if your supply is low. The July 26 cliff also catches the grain-and-celery salad, cucumbers, Spindrift, Gillette, and Iris stacking bin. Costco's dates are explicit, so this is the cleanest first stop.
Sam's on Friday, July 24, for electronics. Plus members get early access to the doorbusters. If you need the Samsung 55-inch TV, LG monitor, headphones, or Lenovo laptop, shop early and confirm stock. For food, take only the Jif, GoGo Squeez, or snack item that fits your normal rotation. A 32-pack of pouches is not a two-person household staple unless you are splitting it.
BJ's for fuel and nothing else unless the app shows a clipped coupon. The public page confirms coupon and Fuel Saver entry points, but not the item-level deal rows needed for a national product comparison. Check the app for a current coupon before adding a cart of ordinary-price goods. 3

Membership math

BJ's Club+	$120 per year with Easy Renewal; 2% back on most BJ's purchases and an additional 5 cents per gallon at BJ's Gas. Standard Club is $60. 8	The rewards-only break-even is about $3,000 in eligible spend. Frequent fuel use can move that point lower, but only if BJ's is convenient.

Next-week preview

Costco's next U.S. savings book is scheduled for July 27-August 23, based on the member preview posted July 18. That should replace the bridge-sale format and may create more same-product matches in the next scorecard. 10

Sam's current book continues through August 16, but the first cliff is immediate: Weekend Doorbusters end July 26. BJ's remains the unresolved variable because its public page does not expose a readable current coupon-book table. The next comparison should recheck BJ's product rows, Costco's new book, and whether Sam's keeps Plus early access on its next short-window events.

The short version: Costco is the best grocery-and-household stop through Sunday, Sam's is the electronics stop from Friday through Sunday, and BJ's is the gas stop today. Costco is not always cheapest. This week, it is simply the club with the most fully documented bridge-sale items.
