June 23–28 warehouse scorecard: Costco's sale, Sam's $8, BJ's stack
All three warehouse clubs are running their biggest June promotions simultaneously this week. Costco's 5-day Member Appreciation Sale (June 22–26) leads on electronics — LG C5 OLED at $1,300, HP OmniBook at $400 off. Sam's Club has three days left on its $8 in-store Club membership (ends June 26). BJ's Bonus Double Coupon period (June 19–July 2) delivers a stacking advantage no other chain matches, and the Kelly B3G1 tire deal expires June 29.
All three chains are running their biggest promotions of the month at exactly the same time. Costco launched a 5-day Member Appreciation Sale on June 22 to directly counter Amazon Prime Day. 1 Sam's Club has three days left on its $8 in-store membership — the lowest warehouse club entry price since 2022. 2 And BJ's is in a Bonus Double Coupon period (June 19–July 2) that lets members stack BJ's digital coupons on top of manufacturer coupons — something Costco and Sam's simply don't allow. 3
One week, three real winning angles. Here's where the money actually goes.
Top 5 headline picks for June 23–28
| Rank | Category | Winner | Deal | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🥇 | Electronics | Costco | LG C5 OLED 65" — $1,300 (save $1,400, 52% off, includes Allstate 3-yr protection) 4 | June 26 |
| 🥇 | Laptop | Costco | HP OmniBook X 14" Touch (Intel Core Ultra 7) — $400 off 5 | June 28 |
| 🥇 | Tires | BJ's | Kelly Edge Touring Plus — buy 3, get 1 free (4-tire set ~$876, save ~$199) 6 | June 29 |
| 🥇 | Grocery | Sam's | Basket of 10 everyday items — lowest across all three chains 7 | July 5 |
| 🚨 | Membership | Sam's | $8 in-store Club membership — 3 days left, ends June 26 2 | June 26 |
The LG C5 OLED deal is exceptional. ZDNET Managing Editor Alison DeNisco Rayome confirmed the discount and flagged it as "an excellent deal." 4 The BJ's tire promo expires June 29 — this Sunday — so if you've been putting off a tire change, this is your actual hard deadline.
Category-by-category comparison
Food and groceries
Sam's wins on price across a standard grocery basket. Allrecipes ran a head-to-head comparison across 10 items at Dallas locations and found Sam's cheapest in six of them — including olive oil ($17.98/2 liters vs. BJ's $24.99), eggs ($1.69/dozen), and ground beef ($5.76/lb). 7 BJ's was most expensive across the entire basket.
Costco counters with depth on fresh protein. The June 22–28 Weekly Insider Deals bring Kirkland Signature boneless skinless chicken breast to $2.79/lb (flagged as a new low price) and KS chicken tenderloins at $2.99/lb. 5 Bulk flag: the chicken comes in packs typically 6–8 lbs. For households of 1–2 people, the tenderloins at $2.99/lb are the more practical buy — they portion and freeze cleanly.
Sam's ISB has been stable all month, with no price changes detected between Week 2 and Week 3. 8 Notable grocery items still active through July 5: Spindrift 24-pack $12.98 (save $3), Kraft Mac & Cheese 18-pack $10.96 (save $4). Bulk flag: the 18-pack is a lot for 1–2 people unless you're stocking a pantry for months.
Household consumables
BJ's structural advantage shows up most clearly here. As the only major warehouse club that accepts manufacturer coupons stacked on top of its own digital coupons, BJ's Bonus Double Coupon period through July 2 can turn already-discounted items into real savings on Tide, Downy, Listerine, and Claritin. 3 No other chain offers this.
Costco's Member Appreciation Sale runs through June 26 and covers electronics, appliances, smart home devices, and furniture. 1 For household consumables specifically, the current Weekly Insider Deals through June 28 also include: KS 13-Gallon Flex-Tech trash bags (200-count) — $2.20 off and KS Alkaline Batteries (48-count AA/AAA) — $2 off (valid through July 19). 5 Bulk flag: the 200-count trash bags are a multi-month supply for any size household and a legitimate value buy.
Sam's ISB household picks through July 5: Scott 1000 Toilet Paper 45-roll $25.48 (save $5), Finish Quantum 90-count $16.98 (save $5). 8 Bulk flag: the 45-roll pack requires real storage; skip it if your cabinet fits 12.
Electronics
Costco wins this week without a debate. The Member Appreciation Sale runs concurrent with the Weekly Insider Deals, producing the deepest electronics lineup of the summer:
- LG C5 OLED 65" — $1,300 (save $1,400, 52% off, includes Allstate 3-year protection plan) 4
- Apple AirPods Max 2 — $450 (save $80, 18% off) 4
- Blink Whole Home Security Camera Bundle (5 cameras) — $115 (save $105, 48% off — "lowest price it's ever been" per ZDNET) 4
- Oura Ring 4 Gold — $400 (save $100, exclusive bundle with extra charger) 4
- HP OmniBook X 14" Touchscreen — $400 off (limit 2, valid June 22–28 only) 5
- Bissell PowerClean FurGuard Deluxe 280W Cordless Vacuum (with extra battery) — $169.99 ($50 off, June 22–July 5) 5
Sam's has TCL TVs on Instant Savings: the 75-inch Class QM63K Series at $748 (save $150). 9 That's a solid TV deal, but the LG C5 at $1,300 with a 3-year warranty for a 65" OLED is the week's standout purchase for anyone buying a screen.
Tires
BJ's wins. The Kelly Edge Touring Plus buy-3-get-1-free (B3G1) promotion runs through June 29 — this Sunday. At the confirmed example price for 245/65R17, four tires total $876 with one free, saving ~$199. 6 Cooper Endeavor tires are also on the same B3G1 deal.
Neither Costco nor Sam's has a comparable tire promotion active this week based on available verified sources.
Travel
Costco Travel's entire Hot Buys catalogue refreshed on June 23, replacing the previous five packages. Ten active deals are now live:
| Destination | Highlight | Book by |
|---|---|---|
| Maui — Westin Maui Resort & Spa | Stay 4/Pay 3 + room upgrade + daily $60 breakfast credit + resort credit, extras valued at $740+ | June 26 |
| Tahiti — Westin Bora Bora | Daily breakfast & dinner + $1,657 in extras | July 10 |
| Dominican Republic — Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana | Adults-only all-inclusive + $200 savings + Shop Card | July 13 |
| Dominican Republic — Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana | Family-friendly all-inclusive + $200 savings + Shop Card | July 13 |
| Sedona — Hilton Sedona Resort | Stay 4/Pay 3 + daily $100 dining credit, extras valued at $650 | July 2 |
| Austin — Hotel Viata | Stay 3/Pay 2 + daily $50 resort credit, extras valued at $355 | July 2 |
| New Orleans — Royal Sonesta | $75 dining credit + valet + late checkout, extras valued at $165 10 | July 2 |
The Maui Westin deal has a June 26 deadline — same day as Sam's $8 membership. If summer travel is on the table, that's the move tonight or tomorrow.
Sam's Travel could not be verified; no current packages were confirmed through available sources. BJ's Travel (primarily cruise bookings) was also inaccessible this cycle.
Gas
Gas prices fell for the fourth consecutive week. The AAA national average hit $3.926/gallon on June 23 — down from $4.044 last week and $4.529 a month ago. 11 The drop traces to the U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement, with the Strait of Hormuz set to reopen; Brent crude fell from its April peak of $126/barrel to below $80. GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan said the national average "could fall below $3.75/gal by July 4 under an optimistic timeline, but hurricane season could be a major wildcard." 12
Loading chart…
BJ's chain average across 202 stations is $3.580/gallon as of June 23 — roughly $0.35 below the national average. 13 BJ's Perks Plus members add another 5¢/gal off that price; the BJ's One Mastercard adds 10¢/gal; BJ's One+ card adds 15¢/gal. 13 BJ's also has a summer gas promo: spend $150+ in a single BJ's transaction (after discounts, before tax) June 16–July 5 and get $0.50/gal off your next fill-up. 14
Harrisburg, PA data from June 15 showed Sam's at $3.60, Costco at $3.63, BJ's at $3.63 — essentially tied at warehouse price, but Sam's edged it. 12 No national chain average for Costco or Sam's is tracked by a single public source; local prices vary. Use GasBuddy for your specific location before driving out of your way.
One caveat on Costco gas: the chain has a documented practice of dropping pump prices slower than competitors when wholesale costs fall — a strategy former CFO Richard Galanti described as giving Costco "an ability to make a little more and still be the most competitive." 15 In a declining market like right now, BJ's and Sam's are more likely to pass the drop through faster.
Cherry-picker's route for June 23–28
Ranked by urgency:
First: Sam's Club in-store today or by Thursday. The $8 Club membership ends June 26. 2 This is confirmed only through social media channels — not the major coupon aggregators — but multiple sources are consistent. Walk in, sign up at the membership desk. While you're there: grab the Spindrift 24-pack ($12.98), Finish Quantum 90-count ($16.98), and check the grocery aisle. If you already hold a Sam's membership, the online Club upgrade to Plus is $50 through July 5. 2
Second: Costco.com for electronics through June 26. The Member Appreciation Sale closes June 26. The LG C5 OLED with Allstate warranty at $1,300 is a TV purchase that doesn't need to be explained. The Blink 5-camera bundle at $115 is the same argument. HP OmniBook X at $400 off expires June 28 — but that's a warehouse-only deal, so go in person if you're after it. 45
Third: BJ's Tire Center before Sunday. The Kelly B3G1 deal expires June 29. That's not a soft deadline — it's the end of the promotion month. If you drive a car that takes a common touring tire size, call ahead to confirm stock. 6
Fourth: Costco Travel for Maui. The Westin Maui Stay 4/Pay 3 with $740+ in extras closes June 26. 10
Ongoing: BJ's coupon stacking. Open the BJ's app, clip everything, and let the double-coupon bonus period do its work through July 2. This is free money that stacks on whatever you would have bought anyway. 3
Membership math
All three chains currently have entry-price promotions. Here's the full picture:
| Chain | Base fee | Upgrade fee | Upgrade break-even | Current promo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sam's Club | $60/yr | $120/yr (Plus) 16 | ~$3,000/yr spend | $8 in-store Club through June 26 2 / $15 Club online through July 5 / $50 Plus online through July 5 |
| BJ's | $60/yr | $120/yr (Club+) 17 | ~$3,000/yr spend | $14–15 via StackSocial through ~July 6 18 / $15 via Groupon (new members, not CA) |
| Costco | $65/yr (Gold Star) | $130/yr (Executive) 17 | ~$3,250/yr spend | Gold Star + $50 Shop Card via Groupon through July 5 / Executive + $100 Shop Card |
Sam's Club raised its membership fees on May 1, 2026 (Club $50→$60, Plus $110→$120) — the first increase in five years. 16 BJ's raised fees on January 1, 2025 (Club $55→$60, Club+ $110→$120). 17 Costco has held its current price since September 2024.
The upgrade math is simple: all three upgrade tiers pay 2% back on in-store spending, so the extra ~$60 annual cost recovers when you spend ~$3,000/year at that chain. Costco's Executive tier has a higher cashback ceiling ($1,250/yr vs. Sam's $750/yr), but that cap becomes meaningful only if you're spending well over $10,000/yr at Costco. Most households don't. 17
The BJ's $14–15 entry via StackSocial is the lowest-risk trial: if you're on the East Coast and have never shopped BJ's, this is a near-free test of the coupon-stacking mechanic before committing to the full $60. Note: BJ's Easy Renewal at checkout will charge full price — this promo requires going through StackSocial or Groupon directly. 19
Next-week preview: what expires, what resets

This is a week where the urgency stack is real: two major promos (Sam's $8 membership, Costco Member Appreciation Sale) both close Thursday. If you've been waiting for a reason to act on either, you've run out of runway.
