Qwen3.8-Max-Preview is a hosted preview, not an open-weight drop
Alibaba previewed Qwen3.8-Max-Preview on July 19 and made it available through its Token Plan subscription service, Qoder, and QoderWork. The model is described as the strongest model in the Qwen family. Alpha Chat gives the open-source route a usable front end
Current AI's AI Potluck project lists Alpha Chat v0.1 as an open-source chatbot prototype built in eight weeks with open-source contributors. It says the demo runs on public compute, is designed around safety and consensual data, and keeps both its base model and pipeline fully open.
