Netflix: one heart-first movie, one last treasure hunt

Don't Say Good Luck — Aug. 14

Netflix's new coming-of-age dramedy follows Sophie Birenbaum, a high-school musical lead whose family life suddenly becomes more dramatic than the stage. The 93-minute film stars Sunny Sandler, Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, and Stephanie Beatriz; director Julia Hart also co-wrote it. Ryan Murphy's adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's novel follows Bret, an aspiring writer at an elite 1980s Los Angeles prep school, whose privileged social circle destabilizes after mysterious new student Robert Mallory arrives amid a serial killer's reign. Hulu's official schedule lists a new episode on Aug. 20; its schedule differs from RT's episode listing, which lists the episode for Aug. 19.
