Before the official announcements land, here is everything credible that surfaced in the past 24 hours: an iPhone Ultra color question nobody expected, the most complete iOS 27 breakdown yet, watchOS 27's two confirmed headline features, and the infrastructure story behind Siri's Gemini upgrade.

iPhone Ultra: white is confirmed, the second color is not

With the iPhone Ultra expected to start production this fall and carrier prototypes already in the field, you would think Apple's color lineup would be locked in. Apparently not.

Weibo leaker Instant Digital — the same source who first confirmed white as a guaranteed finish — wrote on June 5 that Apple is still deliberating on whether to include black at all. His Weibo post raised the question of whether Apple has developed a grudge against the color, given that neither the iPhone 17 Pro nor the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to ship in black.1

The iPhone Ultra has consistently been reported as a two-color device at launch. White appears to be the floor; the ceiling — whether that is black, indigo, or something else entirely — remains unset as of this digest. Instant Digital noted that if no decision is made soon, the fall launch window could slip. Samsung Display has already entered production testing on the foldable's screens, which makes a prolonged color indecision unusual.2

Credibility note: Instant Digital has a solid track record on iPhone hardware details and correctly called white as the only confirmed color before any other source. The "undecided" framing is weaker than a positive leak — it may reflect genuine uncertainty in Apple's supply chain contacts, or it may reflect a decision that has already been made at a level his contacts haven't seen yet. Price estimates from Gurman and Kuo remain north of $2,000.

iOS 27: the most complete pre-WWDC roundup

9to5Mac published its pre-keynote iOS 27 summary on June 6, drawing together months of Bloomberg, Digitimes, and Weibo sources into the clearest picture yet.3 The headline positioning is a "Snow Leopard" release — stability and performance over new features — but the Siri overhaul is anything but subtle.

Siri's new app and interface

The redesigned Siri arrives as a standalone app with an iMessage-style chat history that syncs across devices via iCloud. Siri's new Dynamic Island presence triggers on the new "Search or Ask" panel, accessible by swiping down from the top center of the screen. From that panel, users can route queries to Siri, ChatGPT, or Google Gemini directly. Mark Gurman published reconstructed screenshots of the interface in a May 28 Bloomberg story, confirming the dark-mode glowing design Apple has been hinting at with the "All systems glow" WWDC promotional artwork.4

Foldable-first software features

iOS 27 is explicitly designed around the iPhone Ultra's 7.8-inch inner display and 5.5-inch outer display. Two new features ship with this form factor in mind:

App Adaptation / Parallel View: Split-screen for two apps running side-by-side on the inner screen in landscape. Apple has reportedly pre-adapted its own apps and will open the framework to third-party developers.
Calendar redesign: A full visual overhaul originally planned for iOS 26 was pushed to iOS 27 — the wider inner display is part of why.

Camera and Photos upgrades

The Camera app gains full layout customization: users can rearrange controls and add widgets. Visual Intelligence moves directly into Camera, capable of reading nutrition labels and business cards. The Photos app adds three new AI editing tools — Extend (AI-generate content beyond the original frame), Enhance (automatic quality improvement), and Reframe (adjust the angle of spatial photos).

Compatibility cut

Based on Weibo leaker Instant Digital's list — reported by both 9to5Mac and MacRumors — iOS 27 requires at minimum an A14 Bionic chip. That drops the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone SE (2nd generation). The iPhone 12 would become the oldest supported model. Apple will confirm the official list at the keynote; nothing is final until then.5

watchOS 27: better heart rate and an Ultra face for everyone

The two confirmed watchOS 27 headline features, per Gurman (Bloomberg) and a separate Digitimes report:

1. Improved heart rate tracking. Gurman says Apple is updating the algorithms that power heart rate monitoring across current Apple Watch hardware. Separately, Digitimes has reported that a high blood pressure notification feature is currently in FDA review; it is expected to ship alongside watchOS 27 if cleared in time.6

2. A Modular Ultra-inspired watch face for standard Apple Watch models. The current Modular Ultra face — with its large complication area and three-slot information rail — has been exclusive to Apple Watch Ultra. Gurman says watchOS 27 brings a simplified version to the Series lineup: large time readout filling the top two-thirds of the display, with three configurable complications along the bottom row.

The watchOS 27 update overall follows the same "Snow Leopard" framing as iOS 27: stability and refinement rather than a major feature showcase.

The Siri-Gemini infrastructure: Nvidia B200 inside Apple's cloud

One detail buried in the broader WWDC preview coverage is worth surfacing on its own. The 1.2-trillion-parameter Gemini model that powers Siri's cloud intelligence does not run on Google's servers. It runs on Nvidia B200 chips inside Apple's own Private Cloud Compute nodes — Apple Silicon servers with stateless, ephemeral processing where no user data is retained after a query.7

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian confirmed the commercial terms at Google Cloud Next '26: Apple pays approximately $1 billion per year for a custom model Apple internally calls "Apple Foundation Models v10," based on Gemini architecture and fine-tuned specifically for Siri. Apple's contract prevents Google from using Apple user queries to train future Gemini models. An ACM conference paper published in June 2026 independently verified Apple's core Private Cloud Compute privacy claims.

The architecture matters because it is Apple's answer to the obvious trust question: if Siri is now powered by Google, what happens to your data? The PCC design says: your query hits Apple's hardware, the Gemini model processes it, nothing is logged, and Google never sees it.
