Being useful can look like belonging from a distance. Up close, constant usefulness can become a small unpaid audition you keep restarting.
You can arrive with empty hands. You can let a favour stay a favour. You can notice whether a room has room for you before you rearrange yourself to fit it.
If the only way in is to become furniture, the door is giving useful information. Go where your hands can stay empty.
