The Full Time Report — Episode 100: Rangers crash out, City face the Rodri question
The short version
Rangers are out of the Europa League after a 1–1 draw with Jagiellonia Białystok, while Hearts recovered pride with the same scoreline against Benfica. The bigger question from Thursday is what a result says about the team behind it: Rangers' draw confirmed pre-season worries, while Hearts' draw offered a more encouraging foundation. 12
What happened in Europe
- Rangers led through Lawrence Shankland's VAR-awarded penalty, but Nik Prelec's header made it 1–1 on the night and 3–2 to Jagiellonia on aggregate. Rangers drop into the Conference League play-off round. 1
- Hearts took the lead through Tómas Magnússon in the 77th minute, then conceded to Dodi Lukébakio a minute later. Benfica progress 7–2 on aggregate. 23
- Elsewhere, Egnatia overturned Shamrock Rovers, beating them 5–1 to go through 6–4 on aggregate; Pafos and Salzburg drew 3–3, with Salzburg advancing 4–3 overall. 4
- There was no Premier League or Champions League fixture in the checked window. UEFA's calendar confirms that Thursday was the Europa League and Conference League qualifying return-leg date. 5
The transfer story to watch
Manchester City rejected Barcelona's second offer of around €60m (£51m) for Rodri, according to The Guardian. City are reported to want £60m–£65m, while Chelsea have set a Friday deadline for a £120m bid for Enzo Fernández — the midfielder identified as one possible replacement. 6
The episode also separates reported leads from completed business: Michael Carrick's comments on Manchester United's spending and Marcus Rashford's squad status; transfer-rumour reports linking Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli with Galatasaray; and Enes Ünal's confirmed free transfer from Bournemouth back to Getafe. 789
No fresh, verifiable injury or return-date bulletin for a Premier League, Champions League or Europa League club was found inside this episode's overnight window, so the briefing does not recycle earlier availability news as a new update.
