The Full Time Report — Episode 93: Rangers slip, Salah chooses Europe, and Arsenal's next move
The football checked between Thursday morning and Friday morning had one proper competitive thread: Europa League qualifying. There was no Premier League fixture to recap because the new season starts on 21 August. 1
In this episode
Rangers came from behind in Poland but lost 2–1 to Jagiellonia Bialystok after three first-half goals, while Hearts were beaten 6–1 by Benfica in Lisbon. The full Europa League qualifying slate also included a 3–0 CSKA Sofia win at Maccabi Tel Aviv and several one-goal ties. 2
Mohamed Salah's next club is now confirmed. The former Liverpool forward has signed a two-year deal with Trabzonspor, who disclosed a package worth £14.5m per season plus 20% of revenue from Salah-branded products. He will play in Europe again through Turkey's Europa League play-off route. 34
Arsenal's pursuit of Vinicius Junior is over after the Brazil winger signed a new Real Madrid contract through June 2032. Bruno Guimaraes was still at the medical stage in Sky Sports' latest update, while Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle said the decision to leave had already been made when he first met the midfielder. 56
The transfer desk
Manchester City's summer is moving in smaller pieces: Jeremy Doku has agreed a new deal until 2031, Nico Gonzalez says he wants to stay, and Rodri is attracting Barcelona after talks with Real Madrid stalled. 78
Leeds have signed James Trafford from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £45m, a British-record fee for a goalkeeper. West Ham have also added experienced former Brighton defender Joel Veltman on a free transfer. 910
The useful August distinction is between what is done, what is agreed, and what is still only being negotiated. Salah and Vinicius are done. Doku is agreed but awaiting the formal announcement. Rodri remains a live report, and Bruno's medical had not yet become a completed club announcement in the latest update.

- Why Rangers' 2–1 defeat feels more irritating than catastrophic.
- Why Salah chose a European competition and a demanding new club over more obvious financial routes.
- What Vinicius' renewal changes for Arsenal, and why Rodri is a different kind of City problem.
- Whether Leeds' record fee for James Trafford is a bet on potential, or a reaction to their goalkeeping situation.
