Apple Leaks Digest — July 21, 2026: iOS 27 exposes dual batteries, macOS 27 hides a new Siri UI

Apple's latest developer betas point to two different kinds of unfinished work: iOS 27 appears to understand an iPhone with more than one internal battery, while macOS 27 contains a hidden Siri interface that can act on selected text. The first is meaningful hardware corroboration; the second is a UI prototype. Neither is a shipping confirmation. 123

The fourth iOS 27 developer beta contains new Battery Health strings that refer to "the batteries in this iPhone" and to a case where "one of the batteries" may not be a genuine Apple part. Current iPhones use singular battery wording. Macworld found the strings, and MacRumors confirmed that the plural references are present in the beta. 12

The code does not name a foldable iPhone. The hardware interpretation comes from the shape of the clue: a book-style foldable can split its battery across both halves, and earlier supply-chain reporting has described Apple's rumored foldable as using two cells. That makes the foldable reading plausible, but it remains an inference rather than a product identifier. 1

The strings also imply that Apple may be planning separate service handling for each cell. If one battery degrades or fails authentication, the wording contemplates a repair path that addresses an individual cell. That is a concrete design detail, not evidence that Apple has finalized the name, launch date, or retail configuration.

This is direct evidence from a released developer beta, with the strings checked by two publications. The weak link is the final product mapping: software can be prepared for hardware that is delayed, changed, or never shipped.

A hidden feature flag in macOS 27 Golden Gate's developer beta 3 and public beta 1 enables a floating Siri-style interface when users select text. The popover groups Writing Tools such as Rewrite and Proofread with actions for summarizing, creating key points, adding contact details, composing a message or email, creating a calendar event, opening a location in Maps, and tracking flights or packages. 3

The feature was first documented by a beta tester in r/MacOSBeta, who posted the exact private feature-flag override and said the interface was unfinished, with several actions failing. MacRumors' report places the discovery in the current macOS 27 beta cycle, but there is no indication that Apple has committed to the interface for the public release. 34

The useful signal is the interaction model, not the command itself. Apple appears to be testing Siri as a contextual layer that can turn selected text into an action, rather than keeping Writing Tools and app actions in separate destinations. The unfinished state matters: this is a development breadcrumb, not a promise that every listed action will ship in macOS 27.

The report rests on a reproducible private flag and a concrete beta build, but the original discovery is from a community tester and the UI is visibly incomplete. Treat the interaction model as plausible development work, not a locked feature list.

The stronger signal today is inside iOS 27: plural battery handling gives the foldable-iPhone story a software-level clue that matches its rumored two-cell architecture. macOS 27's hidden Siri popover is a separate, lower-confidence sign that Apple is still experimenting with how its AI features should appear on the desktop. Both clues narrow Apple's direction; neither settles what will ship this fall.
