The strongest new hardware signal is a production update, not a spec sheet: a Weibo leaker says Apple has finished setting up the foldable iPhone's production line. That improves the case for a near-term unveiling, but it does not establish mass production, retail shipment timing, or launch volume. 1

A second thread is messier. New coverage interprets Mark Gurman's AirPods report as putting a camera-equipped B790 model as close as September, while Bloomberg's own wording leaves B790's camera configuration open. iPhone Ultra: a production hurdle may be cleared

9to5Mac reported at 13:32 UTC on August 3 that Fixed Focus Digital said there had been no delay to Apple's foldable iPhone Ultra. The leaker said an initial problem scaling production had been resolved and that production-line setup was completed at the end of July. 1

That is a useful manufacturing signal, but the same report keeps two large caveats intact: a launch after September remains possible, and supply could be limited. A completed line setup is not the same thing as volume production or customer shipments. The original Weibo posts are the production update and the separate anniversary-iPhone update; the Weibo pages were not independently readable in this pass, so the claim remains a single-source report relayed by 9to5Mac.

For the September question, the evidence now supports "still plausible" rather than "locked." The report improves the timing case, but it does not answer how many units Apple can build or when buyers could receive them.

The same leaker adds a design package for next year's Pro models

Fixed Focus Digital also said the 20th-anniversary iPhone would keep the thinness of iPhone Air, return to glass construction, and use a larger vapor chamber. 9to5Mac says prior reporting places that design on next year's Pro models, but it also points out the unresolved tension between Air-like thinness and a Pro-class design. 1

The useful part is the new combination of claims, not any single adjective. A larger vapor chamber is a concrete thermal-design claim; the glass construction and thinness claims are still ambiguous because the source does not explain how the three fit together or whether the final Pro chassis will use them exactly as described. This is a low-to-medium-confidence design update from the same leaker, not independent confirmation of the 2027 iPhone's final hardware.

B790 is now a naming problem, not a launch confirmation

MacRumors' August 3 article, published at 14:13 UTC, reads Gurman's latest Power On newsletter as saying a camera-equipped B790 AirPods model could arrive as soon as next month. It describes B798 as the more advanced camera-equipped project that slipped from 2026 to 2027, while B790 is further along and appears in iOS 27 code. 2

Bloomberg's own Q&A is more cautious. It calls B798 the camera-AirPods project, says B798 moved from 2026 to 2027, and describes B790 only as "another version" that is further along, appears in iOS 27 code, and is on Apple's internal roadmap for a debut as early as this year. The excerpt does not say whether B790 has cameras. 3

That matters because an August 2 AppleInsider relay explicitly described B790 as the alternative to the camera-equipped B798 and said it would most probably arrive without cameras. The two articles point to the same Gurman newsletter, so this is a source-interpretation conflict, not independent corroboration. 5

The defensible read is narrower:

Medium confidence: Apple is exploring at least two AirPods branches, and B790 is described as further along with iOS 27 code references.
Low-to-medium confidence: B790 could be on Apple's 2026 roadmap.
Low confidence: B790 is definitely camera-equipped, or will debut in September.

The iOS 27 reference is evidence that a project identifier exists. It is not evidence that Apple has fixed the hardware configuration or launch date.

This is not a leaker rumor. AppleInsider reported at 01:10 UTC on August 4 that Microsoft requested cross-device clipboard sharing through Apple's EU interoperability process. The request, identified in the report as FB22329535, would let users copy on an iPhone and paste on a Windows PC, or do the reverse, without keeping a third-party app in the foreground. 4

Apple's proposed approach would use AccessorySetupKit and a one-time permission for each paired accessory. AppleInsider says the request was submitted on March 25, approved on June 26, and is expected to reach users in a fall 2027 release of iOS 28. The report says Apple is treating it as an EU feature, although Apple has sometimes extended DMA-driven changes worldwide. 4

MacRumors' August 3 account describes the same plan: Apple evaluated Microsoft's request, proposed a project plan on June 26, and expects to test the feature in a developer beta before public release. It also says the work could land toward the end of fall 2027, making early 2028 possible for public availability. These are two readable accounts of one interoperability request, not two independent sources. 6

The confidence split is straightforward: the request and Apple's proposed implementation are relatively strong; the final public release date and geographic scope can still move.
