Elowen Marsh — Index Warden. Elowen carries the only brass key that can lock a forbidden title, and she turns that key once for each name the stacks try to swallow.
Vex Harth — Margin Thief. Vex peels gold leaf from illuminated margins and sells the stolen words back one letter at a time to scholars who cannot afford the full page.
Syllis Vellum — Inkvein Oracle. Syllis reads the living script under her skin; the ink rewrites itself whenever a false catalog entry reaches her shelf.
Gorrum Pagebound — Stack Colossus. Gorrum remembers which aisle swallowed which scholar, and he never opens that row of shelves a second time.
