August 16 LEGO radar: no dated marketplace bargains, Flower Bouquet sets the $42 ceiling (2026)

The weekly scan found no eBay, Mercari, Vinted, Depop, or BrickLink listing whose native page proves it was created between August 9 and August 16, 2026. The useful signal is therefore a price ceiling, not a claim that a bargain is live: Flower Bouquet is the only tracked set with both a meaningful discount and a large sales sample, while Statue of Liberty is the better scarcity watch.

The ranking is deliberately provisional. BrickLink supply counts were unavailable in this pass, so the scarcity side uses retirement age and recorded-sales depth rather than pretending to have a complete inventory count. A thin sample can make a discount look better than it is; a large sample can make a set easier to price but less scarce.

What the marketplace pages actually prove

The weekly admission test is a native posted or created date, not a search-result date, a page refresh, or a seller's last revision. None of the opened marketplace pages met that test for August 9–16.

Mercari produced the clearest dated examples, but all were old. LEGO Minecraft The Dungeon 21119 was listed at $20 in used-good condition and posted July 23, 2026. The seller reports 1,256 reviews, 1,755 listings, and 956 sales; the set is described as complete with 219 pieces and three minifigures, with no box and possible minor glue repairs. That is a useful completeness lead, not a current-week listing. 9
A generic sealed "Creator Expert" listing is a red flag, not a pick. It was $315, marked new, posted June 26, 2026, and the description says the box has creases and that resealed tape fell off. The page does not identify a set number. Ask for the number before discussing price; a retired-set listing without an exact identity cannot be compared against a market reference. 10
The Ferris Wheel lead is also outside the window. Mercari's 10247 listing was $499, new, and posted March 6, 2026. The seller showed 257 reviews, 44 listings, and 29 sales. Its price may be interesting for a separate 10247 screen, but it is not evidence of a new listing this week. 11
eBay had live pages without a usable creation date. Ghost & Phantom II 75357 was shown new and sealed at $199.99 plus $29.42 shipping, with returns accepted and a seller marked 100% positive. The page does not expose a native start date, so it stays an unresolved lead. The 1994 King Kahuka's Throne 6262 was $335 plus $122.50 shipping and showed a last-updated date of December 19, 2025; Guardians' Ship 76193 was $219 plus $14.60 shipping and showed a last-updated date of February 8, 2026. Vinted and Depop did not add a qualified item. The two Vinted detail pages surfaced by discovery were removed when opened, and the Depop results were unrelated clothing listings. BrickLink returned catalog and inventory pages rather than seller pages with a creation time. Those surfaces remain in the watch, but they supplied no admissible August 9–16 listing for this edition. 15 16

The five-minute authenticity check

A low price is useful only after the seller proves what is in the box. For a loose or minifigure-heavy set, ask for fresh photos rather than relying on stock images. Collector guidance consistently points to the same first checks: LEGO marks on the relevant parts, sharp and aligned printing, clean molding, and accessories that do not look soft, oily, or poorly finished. 17

Match the identity first. Require a photo of the set number, box front and back, and the instruction-book cover. A generic "Creator Expert" title without a number is not enough to identify a collectible.
Treat resealed tape as a condition problem. Ask for close-ups of every seam and both end flaps. A box that is described as resealed may still contain genuine LEGO, but it is no longer equivalent to factory sealed.
For loose sets, verify the expensive pieces before the part count. Check the minifigures, printed parts, transparent elements, and any large or unusual panels against the official inventory. For 21119, the seller's own disclosure of possible glue repair means the buyer should ask which pieces were repaired and request close-ups before paying.
Price the whole transaction. Add shipping and fees before comparing with the table. A $199.99 eBay 75357 offer becomes a different deal after $29.42 shipping, and a $335 6262 offer changes materially with $122.50 shipping.

Bottom line

For a purchase this week, Flower Bouquet below roughly $42 before shipping is the clearest saved-search target. Statue of Liberty deserves the scarcity watch because it is the oldest set in this cohort, while French Café needs more sales before its 8.5% discount means much. The marketplace sweep found leads to investigate, not a timestamped bargain to call a buy.
