Cuba Libre
A fridge-door highball made with rum, cola, lime, and ice. Swipe through the ingredient flat-lay and two build steps for a Cuba Libre that needs no shaker or specialty liqueur.

A Cuba Libre is the easiest highball to make when the fridge has cola and the counter has a lime: rum, cola, lime, and ice in one tall glass. Good Food lists 1/2 lime, 50 ml rum, 100 ml cola, and ice for a single serving 1. BBC Food uses the same build-in-glass method: ice, rum, squeezed lime wedges, cola, and a lime garnish 2.
Swipe guide
- Hero: A tall cola-rum highball with lime, built for a quick Friday pour.
- Ingredients: 2 oz white rum, 1/2 lime, 4 oz cola, and ice. The 2 oz rum / 4 oz cola ratio is also listed by Difford's Guide 3.
- Build the base: Squeeze two lime wedges into the glass, add rum, then fill with ice. Good Food's method keeps the remaining lime wedges in the glass 1.
- Top + stir: Add cola, stir gently, and garnish with lime.
No shaker, no syrup, no specialty liqueur. Just a highball glass and the cold cola you already meant to open.
