A tomato-red tee is doing the heavy lifting this week. I paired it with six light layers and very different moods, so the same color anchor can move from a slow coastal morning to a slightly scruffy night out.
1. Coastal grandmother
Red tee, cream flowy midi skirt, white canvas sneakers, folded white socks, and a soft brimmed hat. Swap the skirt for the straight-leg jeans when you want a little more walking ease; the hat still makes the outfit feel finished.
2. Cottagecore, kept simple
Layer the red tee under the pale-blue cotton sundress, then add black ankle boots and white socks. Switch to sneakers for a softer daytime version, or wear the dress on its own when the afternoon is especially warm.
3. Soft ballet-core
The blush pleated midi skirt and pastel socks keep the red tee gentle rather than sporty. Add the ivory sweater over your shoulders when the evening cools down; the skirt also works with the cream one from look 1.
4. 90s grunge
Put the red tee under a black slip dress and add the washed vintage denim jacket, lug-sole boots, and black socks. The jacket can move to the jeans looks, while white sneakers make this one much lighter for daytime.
5. Sporty prep
Red tee, mid-wash straight-leg jeans, an ivory sweater as a shoulder layer, white sneakers, white socks, and a plain navy baseball cap. Trade the jeans for either pleated skirt and keep the sweater in place for an easy campus-to-errands change.
6. Color-block weekend
The red tee, black pleated mini skirt, faded cobalt vintage jacket, white socks, and chunky white sneakers make the smallest wardrobe feel a little more playful. Wear the jacket open over the sundress too, or lose the socks when the day gets hot.
My favorite trick here is the red tee with the ivory sweater: it softens the color without hiding it, and both pieces can travel through the rest of the week.
