The 3-point acupressure reset

A quick Chinese wellness field guide to three everyday acupressure points: Nei Guan for queasy-stressy moments, He Gu for head and jaw tension, and Zu San Li for digestion and low-stamina days.

3-point acupressure reset

The tiny Chinese wellness hack that actually fits in a chaotic day: three acupressure points for common "ugh" moments. Use gentle pressure, breathe, and treat this as self-care, not a replacement for medical care.

Card 1 — the reset map

Start with a light touch: press until you feel a comfortable ache, never sharp pain. Memorial Sloan Kettering describes acupressure as finger pressure on specific points and advises firm pressure that should not hurt. 1

Card 2 — Nei Guan (P6)

Nei Guan sits on the inner forearm, about three fingers below the wrist crease, between two tendons; MSKCC uses it for nausea and says to circle the point for 2-3 minutes. 1 Baidu Baike also identifies Nei Guan as a Pericardium channel point used in traditional practice for nausea/vomiting, chest discomfort, insomnia, and related patterns. 2

Card 3 — He Gu (LI4)

He Gu is the classic web-of-the-hand point: on the back of the hand between the thumb and index finger, around the midpoint of the second metacarpal. Baidu Baike lists headache, toothache, throat discomfort, and other head-and-face concerns among its traditional uses. 3 Do not stimulate He Gu if you are pregnant; Youlai's clinician-reviewed explainer specifically flags pregnancy as a contraindication. 4

Card 4 — Zu San Li (ST36)

Zu San Li is on the outer lower leg, 3 cun below the outer knee area and one finger-breadth outside the front shin ridge. Baidu Baike describes it as a major Stomach channel point traditionally used for gastrointestinal patterns, low-vitality patterns, and lower-limb discomfort. 5
Quick safety: skip any point with broken, blistered, swollen, warm, infected, or rashy skin, and stop if pressure hurts. 1 If symptoms are severe, new, or persistent, get medical help instead of trying to press your way through it.
