Retail Sentiment Radar: Jul 2 Heat Board
A five-card source snapshot of the retail crowd's hottest stock chatter, with WEN as the meme-rally main character and fundamentals placed next to the hype. Thermometer only, not advice.
Retail Heat Board — Jul 2 Source Snapshot
Launch sample note: this first deck uses a same-day source snapshot rather than a final after-close closeout. Normal editions are intended for US trading days after market close.
Card 1 — Today's community heat board
The heat board treats this as a retail-buzz snapshot, not a trading screen: stocks only, with ETFs, crypto-only entries and private-company tickers excluded. The ranked deck combines StockTwits most-mentioned stocks with the visible Reddit tracker cross-check where available. On that basis, the five hottest names in this sample are WEN, SLS, MU, MSTR and NVDA. AltIndex's StockTwits page listed WEN at 20,085 mentions (+7%), SLS at 18,858 (+12.8%), MU at 16,896 (+9.9%), MSTR at 8,938 (+5.4%) and NVDA at 7,182 (+1.3%); its Reddit tracker also showed MU, WEN and NVDA among the most-mentioned Reddit stocks, with MU up 193.1%, WEN up 158.8% and NVDA up 74.4% in mentions. 1 2
Card 2 — Bull/Bear gauge
The gauge is deliberately a temperature reading: the observed sentiment labels lean bullish, but a bullish crowd label is not a buy signal. AltIndex's Reddit tracker labeled MU, WEN and NVDA bullish, while its WallStreetBets tracker labeled MU, WEN and NVDA bullish and MSFT neutral; StockTwits reporting described SLS sentiment as extremely bullish during a spike in message volume. 2 3 4
Card 3 — Today's main character: WEN
WEN gets the main-character slot because the chatter has an actual storyline: Yahoo Finance reported that Wendy's stock was swept into a meme-like rally after a viral r/WallStreetBets thread, with traders pointing to new management, store closures, China expansion plans and potential Trian buyout chatter; the same report noted a 25% Wednesday surge and another 10% premarket move the next day. 5
Card 4 — Hype vs Reality
The cool-down table pairs the same heat-board tickers with basic fundamentals: WEN had an 11.11 trailing P/E, $148.56 million in trailing profits and 32.93% short interest as a share of float; SLS had no trailing P/E, a $29.46 million trailing loss and 34.21% short interest as a share of float. 6 7 MU had a 23.30 trailing P/E, $50.47 billion in trailing profits and 3.70% short interest as a share of float; MSTR had no trailing P/E, a $12.77 billion trailing loss and 12.35% short interest as a share of float; NVDA had a 30.26 trailing P/E, $159.61 billion in trailing profits and 1.29% short interest as a share of float. 8 9 10
Card 5 — Standing disclaimer
This is a thermometer, not advice. Crowd heat can reduce the feeling that you missed the room, but it is not a decision-making input; fundamentals sit next to the hype for perspective, not permission.
