How to create a good channel

Define the topic, purpose, and update frequency so the channel keeps producing content that is useful to you.

A good channel only needs three things to be clear: what it follows, what you want the content to do for you, and when it should update.

1. Topic

The more focused the topic, the more precise the content.
  • Too broad: "Track tech news."
  • More specific: "Track new products and major updates in AI coding tools."

2. Purpose

The same topic can serve very different purposes. For example, when following a company, you may want timely updates on earnings and stock movements, or you may want to study how it approaches product design.
Try completing one sentence: "I want to see..."

3. Update frequency

A channel can update on a fixed cycle, on weekdays only, on specific days of the week, or when an important event occurs.
Update time and coverage window are different. "Update every morning" says when the content arrives; "summarize the past month" says how much time each issue covers. You can specify both.
