🌊 AI built a city on the water. The trees are holding it up.

AI built MYRETH — a Year 2090 biopunk/solarpunk Niger Delta megacity where 5.1M people live inside living mangrove towers, and every 11 years the root network goes silent.

We asked AI to build a city that doesn't exist yet — and it did NOT hold back.
Meet MYRETH. Year 2090. Niger Delta, West Africa. 5.1 million people living inside a forest. 280 meters above flood water.

Slide 1 — The City
22 towers. Each one wrapped in living mangrove roots the width of a car. They're not decoration. They ARE the structure.

Slide 2 — The Founding
  1. The Niger Delta started going under. Not slowly. All at once.
The Niger Delta Reclamation Compact signed Protocol 12 in 2063. The first Canopy Spire piling went into flooded silt in a Category 4 storm. They built anyway.

Slide 3 — The Architecture
The Canopy Spires don't have concrete cores. Titanium ribs wrapped in mangrove root lattice — grown to specification over 15 years. At mid-tower: the Delta Deck. An open-air market suspended 80m above open water. No floor below it. Just air. Then the delta.
The Vine Rails connect tower to tower — bio-transit pods running on living vine cables. The vines are also load-bearing. Locals consider this completely normal.

Slide 4 — The Life
The Delta Deck is where you go for everything. Live shrimp, mangrove fungi, bioluminescent spice jars that glow amber at night. Kids play rattan ball near railings with no safety net. Elders play tiles and ignore the 80-meter drop entirely.
The Vine Rail runs free. Root-access (what they call civic infrastructure) is a constitutional right. The humidity is permanent. You stop noticing it after a week.

Slide 5 — The Lore
Every 11 years, the root network goes quiet.
All 22 Spires. Simultaneously. For exactly 72 hours, the mangrove root system stops growing. City engineers have measured it. They cannot explain it.
They call it the Consensus Silence.
Three residents in recorded history have reported hearing something during the Silence. None of them will describe it. All three applied for permanent residency the next day.

Save this if you'd apply for citizenship. Drop a 🌊 if MYRETH is more livable than where you are right now.
