NBA Daily Digest: Carr leads Lakers, Brazile hits 32, Dybantsa sits

Six Las Vegas Summer League games finished inside the latest 24-hour window. The Lakers remained unbeaten at 3-0 after Cameron Carr, their rookie wing, scored 23 points in a 99-85 win over the Clippers. Carr also made three 3-pointers and had two steals, while Los Angeles shot 13-for-34 from deep. Keaton Wagler, the Clippers' rookie wing, finished with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. 1

Denver's Trevon Brazile, a rookie forward, supplied the largest individual scoring line of the night. He scored 32 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including six 3-pointers, as the Nuggets held off Oklahoma City 106-103. The Rockets controlled Philadelphia from the opening tip and held the 76ers to 31.1% shooting, including 5-for-30 from 3-point range. Brooklyn forced 28 turnovers against Sacramento and scored 41 points off them. Memphis made 17 3-pointers, and Chicago earned its first Las Vegas win behind three players in double figures. 1

The Washington Wizards will not use AJ Dybantsa, their No. 1 pick and forward, again in Las Vegas. CBS Sports reported that Washington announced the shutdown on Tuesday, ending Dybantsa's Summer League run after two games. The report did not cite an injury, so this is a planned participation decision rather than a new injury designation. 2

Washington's next game is against the Clippers at 10:30 p.m. ET on July 15, or 10:30 a.m. GMT+8 on July 16. The Wizards will therefore finish the preliminary schedule without the player who opened the event as its main attraction. 3

The Lakers and Hawks were the only 3-0 teams through July 14, according to Yahoo Sports' standings snapshot. Brooklyn had the best point differential among the 2-1 teams at plus-17, with Houston, Golden State, Memphis, Denver and Washington also in that group. The top four teams advance to the semifinals after the preliminary games and applicable tiebreakers. 4

No completed transaction displaced the Summer League results as the main new story. ESPN's latest update said Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown have all been communicating with LeBron James, with Maxey leading Philadelphia's pitch. Bob Myers, president of the 76ers' ownership group, also made a public case for Philadelphia.

That is recruiting activity, not a completed signing. LeBron's destination remains unresolved, but the report adds detail to the 76ers' approach. 5
