Today's act: Wave or nod to your neighbor.
Two seconds. No money. No plan. Just a quick raise of the hand — or even just a nod — when you pass someone you recognize.
That's it. The whole thing.
We walk past each other every day: the person across the hall, the neighbor two doors down, the face you see every morning but have never actually spoken to. A wave doesn't require a conversation. It doesn't require you to know their name or have something to say. It just says: I see you. You're not invisible to me.
Research on prosocial micro-gestures consistently finds that small acts of acknowledgment — a nod, a wave, a brief eye contact — activate a sense of belonging for both the giver and receiver. The effect is disproportionate to the effort: two seconds of your attention can shift someone's entire morning.
That small acknowledgment does something. It turns a stranger into a familiar face. It makes a hallway feel like a neighborhood. It costs you two seconds and absolutely nothing else.
The challenge: Next time you pass your neighbor — in the corridor, the driveway, the elevator lobby — wave or nod. That's your whole kindness practice for today.

Free. Easy. Universal. #KindnessIsFree
