Anthropic opens Seoul office and names Korean Claude deployments

Anthropic opened its Seoul office on June 17 and used the announcement to name a broad set of Korean Claude deployments across enterprise IT, gaming, startups, research, and nonprofit work. 1 The move follows the May appointment of KiYoung Choi as Anthropic's representative director for Korea and gives the company a local base in one of its faster-growing Claude markets. 1

The office opening came with a partner and customer roster rather than a generic market-entry note. NAVER has deployed Claude Code across its engineering organization, with thousands of engineers using it as part of their coding toolset. 1 Nexon engineering teams use Claude Code to write, review, and ship code for live-service games played by millions of users. 1

The enterprise list is unusually heavyweight for a country-office launch. LG CNS is rolling out Claude to thousands of employees and plans to deploy it across LG Group; Hanwha Solutions is bringing Claude to global employees through AWS Bedrock for in-region data residency and security requirements; Samsung SDS is deploying Claude, Claude Cowork, and Claude Code to employees across Samsung Electronics. 1

This is a regional expansion, but the signal is mainly distribution. Anthropic is showing that Claude Code and Claude Cowork are moving through large Korean technology groups, not only through startup pilots. Channel Corp is using Claude inside Channel Talk, its customer AI platform used by more than 230,000 companies across Korea, Japan, and the United States. 1

The research and public-interest pieces widen the footprint. Anthropic said it will work with the National AI Research Lab consortium, spanning KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH, and provide Claude access to up to 60 affiliated researchers working on AI safety, evaluation, alignment, robustness, and frontier AI research. 1

Good Neighbors Korea is deploying Claude to help staff analyze program outcomes, navigate social welfare law and internal guidelines, and reduce administrative work. 1

Anthropic says Korea is among the top dozen countries for Claude.ai use, with activity concentrated in technical and creative work. 1 The practical follow-up is whether the named deployments turn into repeatable regional packaging: Claude Code for engineering organizations, Bedrock-backed Claude for regulated or data-residency-sensitive customers, and research access tied to safety evaluation. Anthropic says the Seoul office is now open and hiring. 1
