NFL Injury & Lineup Update: June 11–17, 2026

Rashee Rice walked out of Dallas County Jail on the morning of June 16. That single fact reshuffled the Kansas City Chiefs' receiver depth chart, dropped Rice's fantasy ADP by more than 10 spots in a matter of weeks, and pushed Xavier Worthy up the board. Add Brandon Aiyuk's messy exit from San Francisco and Myles Garrett's blockbuster trade to Los Angeles, and the week of June 11–17 produced more roster-shaping news than most in-season Sundays.

Rice completed his 30-day sentence — triggered by a positive THC test that violated the probation terms stemming from his 2024 Easter Sunday six-car crash plea — and was released Tuesday morning. 1 During the stretch behind bars he was permitted to travel to Parkland Memorial Hospital for knee rehabilitation sessions. He has not made any public statement.

The suspension picture remains unsettled. ProFootballTalk previously projected an 8-game ban under the NFL's personal-conduct policy. 2 He already sat out six games in 2025 for his role in the crash; the combination of that prior discipline and the probation violation means additional games are likely, though the league office has not confirmed a number. Rice also missed the Chiefs' OTAs and mandatory minicamp while incarcerated, which could factor into any fine structure.

Fantasy implication: Rice's Underdog Best Ball ADP tumbled from 19.0 (WR7 range) on May 17 to 29.5 (WR12) by May 29 — the steepest drop among any receiver in that window. 3 The direct beneficiary is Xavier Worthy (KC WR), whose ADP rose 7.9 spots to 102.1 in the same period as he becomes the likely KC WR1 for at least the first half of the season. 3 Head coach Andy Reid separately confirmed Patrick Mahomes (knee, December 2025 surgery) is "on course to get ready for camp" and signed a two-year extension through 2033 worth $5.0475 billion. 4 If Mahomes' pocket-mobility restrictions lift by August, a full-health Rice would be a buy-low candidate. If the suspension lands at eight games, buying him before Round 3 in best-ball is a questionable proposition.

The standoff between San Francisco and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is ending badly. The 49ers are expected to release Aiyuk before training camp opens in late July, according to multiple reports. 56

The timeline: San Francisco voided Aiyuk's $27 million in 2026 guaranteed money in July 2025 after he failed to attend mandated rehab sessions for his torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus — an injury suffered in October 2024 that kept him off the field for the rest of that season and all of 2025. He remains on the reserve/left-team list, drawing no salary and not counting against the 90-man roster. If he does not report when training camp opens, he faces fines of up to $50,000 per day. 7 The post-June 1 designation allows the team to split dead-cap money across 2026 and 2027 when they eventually cut him.

Aiyuk, who has earned $48.15 million since signing his August 2024 extension (per OverTheCap), posted a series of Instagram videos calling the 49ers "stupid," "dumb," and "little boys," then deleted them. 6 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team is "not trying to hook up any other team as fast as you possibly can." The Washington Commanders are the presumed landing spot — Aiyuk and QB Jayden Daniels were Arizona State teammates — though Washington has indicated interest only as a free agent acquisition, not via trade.

Fantasy implication: Aiyuk's Underdog ADP had already slipped from 175.3 to 189.1 between May 17 and June 12. 3 He has not played in over 20 months. Even in a best-case scenario — Commanders signing him, Daniels healthy — analysts project WR3-level production. His 49ers WR room replacement picture: DeVonta Smith as WR1, joined by Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing, and Mike Evans (signed this offseason from Tampa Bay). 5

The trade was announced June 1, but minicamp week cemented its downstream effects on the NFC West. The Cleveland Browns sent defensive end Myles Garrett — reigning Defensive Player of the Year, 23 sacks in 2025, 125.5 career sacks — to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for DE Jared Verse (2024 Defensive Rookie of the Year), a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick. 8

The contract math tells the story of who won the negotiation: Garrett costs the Rams $31.5 million in 2026 and $41.7 million in 2027, while Verse costs $5 million over those same two years on his rookie deal. 9 ESPN's Seth Walder graded the Rams a C– and the Browns an A, noting that despite Garrett's talent, "it's a mighty acquisition for Los Angeles, but it's a massive return for Cleveland." Rams Super Bowl odds shifted from +800 to +600 in the aftermath. 9

Browns GM Andrew Berry framed the decision as a crossroads: "Do we hold on to a truly generational player who has become the identity of our team, or do we make the difficult decision that we think is best for the organization over the long run?" 8

The ripple reached San Francisco: the 49ers are reportedly exploring a Maxx Crosby acquisition as a counter-move to Garrett landing in their division. Cardinals linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. took a different tack: "They've got to deal with us." 10

No formal DNP/Limited/Full practice reports exist during the offseason; the table below reflects minicamp observations, coach quotes, and team announcements. 11

One story at the bottom of that table deserves a separate note: the Buccaneers' mandatory minicamp (June 16–18) surfaced several parallel threads. Baker Mayfield's contract extension deadline is June 17 — the final year of his deal pays $33.33 million if no new agreement is reached. Bucky Irving's timeline remains firmly "summer or fall" from HC Todd Bowles; Kenneth Gainwell, signed on a two-year, $14 million deal ($9.8M guaranteed), ran with the first unit and was praised by Bowles as an "unsung leader." 24 Lavonte David, the linebacker who anchored Tampa's defense for 14 seasons, officially retired this offseason; the team confirmed the news with a tribute video featuring Gerald McCoy. 16

A few positions worth watching heading into training camp:

McConkey and Quentin Johnston (LAC WR): McConkey's hamstring strain is being treated as routine — he told reporters "there's no reason to rush it and really push it and then have another setback." 25 His ADP barely moved (40.5 to 40.2). Johnston, at 92.3 ADP, picked up 1.9 spots as the potential short-term beneficiary — new OC Mike McDaniel reportedly has been impressed with him. 26

Chigoziem Okonkwo (WAS TE): The Commanders tight end signed a three-year, $27 million deal ($16.7M guaranteed) to replace Zach Ertz. Quarterback Jayden Daniels said he was "super excited we got Chig." 27 At ~151.6 ADP (TE19 in Underdog), he represents a sizable gap from his likely role — Ertz finished TE10 in PPR in 2024 when Daniels was healthy. The risk is whether Washington adds a receiver (Aiyuk, Stefon Diggs) who competes for targets. 3

Retirements: Linebacker Lavonte David (TB, 14 seasons) officially retired. Left guard Joel Bitonio (CLE) also stepped away after 12 seasons — 178 starts, 6,481 consecutive offensive snaps from 2017 to 2023, six All-Pro honors. 28 Quarterback Russell Wilson announced his retirement in early June after 14 seasons; Aaron Rodgers (PIT) told reporters 2026 will be his final year. 29

Jonathon Cooper legal update: The Broncos linebacker faces two new felony assault charges following a June 11 arrest. He and his girlfriend were both arrested in a domestic violence incident. He has pleaded not guilty to a prior criminal damage charge. HC Sean Payton excused him from minicamp: "He's taking this time; obviously he's got to work on himself." 10 Motion hearing July 6, jury trial July 22 — both before training camp opens.

Other notable transactions: The Eagles traded WR A.J. Brown to the Patriots on June 1 for a 2027 5th and 2028 1st-round pick; Brown reunites with former HC Mike Vrabel. DeVonta Smith is now Philadelphia's clear WR1. 29 The Chiefs traded OT Wanya Morris to the Falcons on June 11 for a 2027 6th-round pick. 29

Baker Mayfield deadline: Today (June 17) is the extension deadline on Mayfield's final year, worth $33.33 million. If no deal closes, he plays 2026 on that number and enters free agency. 24

Training camp reports begin July 22 for most teams. The next formal injury data — padded-practice participation — won't appear until the third week of August, but the roster decisions settling in now will define the league's start/sit landscape by September.
