A hard, light metal with hexagonal crystals — stiff as steel but half the weight, used in telescopes and aerospace.
Beryllium is one of the lightest structural metals. Its HCP crystal structure gives it exceptional stiffness. It was used in the James Webb Space Telescope mirrors. Paradoxically, it is highly toxic — even its dust is dangerous.
