Card 4: responsibilities

The work commonly includes scoping the brief, choosing type and visual style, creating layouts and original visual elements, presenting concepts, incorporating feedback, reviewing final designs, preparing files for print or digital production, researching audiences, and maintaining design assets or archives. 1 2

Card 5: industry fit and demand signal

The largest U.S. employer categories include self-employment, specialized design services, advertising and public relations, information, and printing-related support activities. BLS projects graphic designer employment to grow 2% from 2024 to 2034, with about 20,000 openings per year on average; it also notes that digital channels support demand while automated design tools may pressure some freelance work. 1
