Seedance 2.5: Check the Shot at 480p, Then Pay for the 1080p Take

Seedance 2.5 can render the same shot twice: a 480p draft you inspect first, then the 1080p final built from that draft's task ID. ByteDance's developer documentation describes the two-step method as a way "to quickly validate the result before generating a high-quality final video." 1

The draft exists to be checked. The same documentation lists what it previews: the scene structure, the shot scheduling, the subject's motion and the prompt's intent. Two limits come with it. Only 480p drafts can be generated, and asking for another resolution returns an error. A draft also consumes tokens at the rate of a normal 480p video, so the money you hold back is the 1080p render you order only after the draft looks right. 1

To finish the shot, send the draft's task ID back to the same endpoint. The model has to match the one that made the draft, and the final supports 1080p only. The prompt, your reference images, videos and audio, the duration, the aspect ratio, the seed, the audio setting and the task type are all reused from the draft automatically, and providing any of them again returns an error even when the values match. 1 Platforms that serve the model split the two steps the same way: fal lists a draft-completion endpoint that takes a draft ID and regenerates the task at 1080p. 2

Dreamina, ByteDance's own product, is running a campaign to 9 October 2026 that lists Seedance 2.5 output at $0.035 per generated second at 720p on the eligible Basic first month, which puts 30 generated seconds at about $1.05. Those are subscription usage rates for 720p output, and the page notes that 30 seconds can be total output across several clips rather than one long generation. 3
