Agents Are Turning Into Infrastructure (2026)

Agent infrastructure is starting to look less like a model feature and more like production plumbing. This episode follows three concrete moves: A2A entering the Agentic AI Foundation, MCP moving to a stateless transport core, and Warp Factories packaging multi-stage coding workflows. The common thread is capability with a visible boundary.

A2A gets a neutral home. The Agent2Agent protocol is designed for agents from different frameworks or vendors to discover one another, delegate work, and exchange results. Moving into the Linux Foundation-hosted Agentic AI Foundation gives that handoff layer a more neutral governance model, but it does not make delegation safe by itself. Identity, permissions, and traceability still have to be designed. 1
MCP sheds hidden session state. The 2026-07-28 specification makes requests self-describing, adds header-based routing, and gives tool catalogs cache hints. That makes MCP easier to scale behind ordinary web infrastructure, while application state and approvals remain explicit. 2
Coding agents become a workflow, not a prompt. Warp Factories route work through triage, specification, implementation, review, and verification, with version-controlled definitions and human intervention still available. The product is in closed beta, so the signal is the operating model, not a promise of full autonomy. 3

The useful question for builders is no longer only whether an agent can act. It is whether the handoff, tool connection, and approval boundary can be inspected when the work goes wrong.
