San Francisco slowcore band ee has booked its first Los Angeles headlining show in many years at Zebulon on Saturday, October 17. The DICE listing gives a 7 p.m. start, a 21+ age limit, and a $26.78 ticket price. 1
The band came out of the late-1990s Bay Area indie scene around Tobin Mori, after Korea Girl. In Sheep's Clothing describes ee's early-2000s records as part of the current slowcore and shoegaze revival, with Pavement, Slowdive, and Mojave 3 among the band's touchstones. The feature also places ee in Asian-American indie history: the group was once made up of all Asian-American musicians, and Mori remembered audiences where Asian listeners could feel represented in indie rock. 2
Mori summed up that feeling in a quote reproduced by the feature from a 2022 Bandcamp interview: "It just felt like this sense of pride in seeing that happen, that these Asian kids don't feel left out in indie rock." 2
