Mandala #17 — Cl: Cloro (Chlorine)
Element 17 · Cl · Cloro
Toxic yellow-green gas
A yellow-green halogen gas — disinfecting pools, producing plastics, and once deployed as a weapon of war.
Chlorine's sharp, acrid smell at pool level is unmistakable. It was the first chemical weapon used in warfare (Ypres, 1915). Yet chlorine chemistry gives us PVC, bleach, and safe drinking water. Sodium chloride (salt) is essential for life.
