An Equinox claim closes in four days — $100, no documents, one notice code

Six open US class action claims this week: Equinox's roughly $100 payment closes October 23, Bestway pools pay a flat $40 by October 30, Trans Union's bankruptcy-remark reports pay $100 to $1,000, and three data-breach and texting settlements stay open into December.

Six claims are open to ordinary US consumers this week. Three of them shut between October 23 and October 30. The other three stay open into December.
Two pay a flat amount: $40 from Bestway, $55 from Jack's. Three pay a share of a fund, which thins as more people file. Trans Union pays $100 to one group automatically, and about $350 to claimants in a second group. Every figure below comes from the administrator's own page or the court notice, and every link in the last column opens that case's claim form.

Equinox data incident — October 23 (4 days)

The lawsuit. McHugh v. Equinox, Inc., Index No. 911677-24, and Carter v. Equinox, Inc., Index No. 901198-25, in the Supreme Court of New York, Albany County. The suits say Equinox did not protect private information taken in a data incident on or about April 29, 2024. Equinox denies wrongdoing. 1
Who qualifies. US residents whom Equinox wrote to about the incident. Equinox, Inc. is a mental-health services nonprofit in Albany, New York, a different company from the fitness chain that shares its name. 2 The exposed files held names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security and driver's licence numbers, health insurance and treatment details, financial account numbers and patient ID numbers. 3
What it is worth. About $100, the notice's own estimate of the pro rata cash payment. The fund is $685,000; the notice caps class counsel's fee at one third of that sum, or $228,333. 3 Documented out-of-pocket losses can be claimed up to $5,000 instead, and three years of single-bureau credit monitoring, with $1 million of identity theft insurance, comes on top of either. 1
Proof and access. The $100 payment asks for nothing beyond the form. Three steps: open the claim form, enter the notice ID printed on the mailed notice, choose payment and credit monitoring. A paper form can be printed and mailed instead. 3
Deadline. October 23, 2026, online or postmarked. Exclusions and objections closed September 23, and the fairness hearing is November 12. 1
Five-minute value check. Search your mail and inbox for "Equinox". The notice settles eligibility by itself and carries the ID the form wants. Without it, the administrator answers at 1-844-943-4276 and can send a copy or the ID. 1

Bestway above-ground pools — October 30 (11 days)

The lawsuit. In re: Bestway Above-Ground Pools Litigation, No. 1:25-cv-09570, US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Buyers say pools standing 48 inches or taller, with compression straps running outside the vertical support legs, carried a drowning hazard, and that Bestway's 2025 recall with the Consumer Product Safety Commission offered no money back. Bestway denies the pools are defective. 4
Who qualifies. Anyone in the United States who bought one of those pools between 2008 and 2024, from a retailer rather than second-hand, for personal use rather than resale. Power Steel, Steel Pro and Coleman Power Steel are named in the class definition. 5
What it is worth. A $15 million fund. A claimant without a receipt gets $40. A claimant with a valid receipt or order record gets 10% of the price actually paid. One claim is allowed per household. 5
Proof and access. Nothing to attach at the $40 tier, which rests on a signed attestation. The claim portal runs five steps: claim ID, claimant information, payment eligibility, certification and payment options, confirmation. 6
Deadline. October 30, 2026, at 11:59:59 p.m. Central for online claims, or postmarked that day by mail. The fairness hearing is November 20. 5
Five-minute value check. The model name and height are on the pool's frame, and the straps are visible where they cross the legs. If the pool is still in the yard, the answer takes a walk outside. 5

Brooks v. Trans Union — October 30 (11 days)

The lawsuit. Brooks v. Trans Union, LLC, No. 2:22-cv-00048-KSM, US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The suit says Trans Union sold credit reports that carried a bankruptcy remark on a credit account while the same report showed no bankruptcy in its public-records section, and calls that inaccurate under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Trans Union denies wrongdoing. 7
Who qualifies. People in the United States to whom Trans Union sold a consumer report between January 6, 2020 and January 31, 2023 that carried such a remark. The class splits in two. In the No Bankruptcy Group, no bankruptcy filing turns up at all. In the Aged Bankruptcy Group, the only filing on record is more than ten years old. 7
What it is worth. An $8.31 million fund. The No Bankruptcy Group receives $100 automatically and about $1,000 if it files a claim. The Aged Bankruptcy Group receives nothing unless it files, and then about $350. 7
Proof and access. No documents. The notice prints a claim number and PIN, and the group name sits directly under them. The claim page takes the two numbers and a payment choice. 8
Deadline. October 30, 2026, for claims, exclusions and objections alike. The fairness hearing is December 2. 7
Five-minute value check. The line under the claim number on the notice names your group, and the group decides whether filing is worth anything. If the notice is gone, the administrator confirms the group at 888-279-4003. 7

Open and newly filed

Finastra data incident — November 27 (39 days)

The lawsuit. Tina Parsley Hughes, et al. v. Finastra Technology, Inc., No. CACE26013154, Circuit Court for Broward County, Florida. The suit says an October 2024 cyberattack on Finastra's systems exposed personal information. Finastra denies wrongdoing. 9
Who qualifies. Living US residents whom Finastra notified. The files involved carried names, birth dates, Social Security numbers and financial account numbers. 10
What it is worth. A $3.125 million fund. The pro rata cash payment needs no documents, and the administrator expects a significant balance to remain after fees and other benefits, though it has published no per-claim figure. A $3.1 million fund split among a few thousand filers pays hundreds apiece; among tens of thousands, tens. 10 Documented losses up to $2,500 are the alternative, and a year of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, with $1 million of fraud insurance, comes with any claim. 11
Proof and access. Nothing to upload for the pro rata payment. The form opens with the login ID and PIN from the notice, which went out by email on September 18. The form can be printed and mailed instead. 11
Deadline. November 27, 2026, online or postmarked. Opt-outs and objections close November 13, and the fairness hearing is December 14. 10
Five-minute value check. The notice arrived by email; a search for "Finastra" answers eligibility.

Jack's Family Restaurants breach — November 30 (42 days)

The lawsuit. In re Jack's Family Restaurants, LP Data Breach Litigation, No. 2:25-cv-01861-LCB, US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The suit says a cyberattack between July 24 and August 10, 2025 reached files holding private information. Jack's denies wrongdoing. 12
Who qualifies. US residents whose private information was compromised, including everyone the company sent a notice. The files held names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, phone numbers and bank account details used for wages. 13
What it is worth. $55 with no documents, or $80 for four hours of time at $20 an hour, or up to $4,000 in documented losses. The $55 option replaces the other two; lost time can be added to documented losses. Three years of identity theft protection, carrying $1 million of insurance, comes with any claim. 13
Proof and access. The $55 tier asks for nothing beyond the form. The portal opens with the login ID and PIN from the notice, and the administrator reissues both on request with a full name and mailing address. 14
Deadline. November 30, 2026, online or postmarked. Opt-outs and objections close November 13, and the fairness hearing is December 15. 13
Five-minute value check. The notice went out in late August. Ten minutes with the paper pile settles whether the form is worth it.

Coast Dental text messages — December 24 (66 days)

The lawsuit. Chaviano v. Coast Dental Services, LLC, No. 2026-013610-CA-01, Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Miami-Dade County, Florida. The suit says the dental chain kept sending marketing texts and calls after people replied "stop", which it calls violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Telephone Solicitation Act. Coast Dental denies wrongdoing. 15
Who qualifies. People in the United States who, within the four years before the July 6, 2026 filing, received more than one marketing text or call within any 12-month period urging them to book an appointment, after asking Coast Dental to stop. About 24,308 people are in the class. 16
What it is worth. A fund of more than $3.84 million pays up to $59 in cash or a voucher worth up to $99 toward an electric toothbrush sold by Coast Dental. Both figures are pro rata and fall as claims rise. 16
Proof and access. The claim number and PIN from the notice open the portal; after that the choice is cash or voucher. A paper form is also available. 17
Deadline. December 24, 2026, online or postmarked. Opt-outs and objections close October 30, and the fairness hearing is December 9. 15
Five-minute value check. Search your phone for "Coast Dental". If a "stop" reply is sitting above more texts from the same number, that thread is the class definition.

Three quick wins

  1. Do Equinox this week. Four days remain, the payment needs no documents, and the only unusual thing the form wants is the notice ID. Nothing else on this list is that close to closing.
  2. Sweep for codes once. All six claims open with a code that arrived by mail or email: a notice ID, a settlement claim ID, a login ID and PIN, or a claim number and PIN. One pass through the paper pile and every inbox, searching six brand names, clears the whole list at once.
  3. Check your Trans Union group before skipping it. The No Bankruptcy Group already has $100 coming and a claim lifts it to about $1,000. The Aged Bankruptcy Group gets nothing without a claim.

Not on this week's list

The Playstudios social casino settlement closes its election window on October 21 and covers money spent on myVEGAS, Pop! Slots, myKONAMI Slots, MGM Slots Live and related games. 18 It stays off the list because the class covers residents of six states only — Alabama, Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Kentucky, each with its own purchase window — and doing nothing pays in virtual chips rather than cash. A cash share needs an election form, and the amount is not disclosed.
