Recommendation
I have had the pleasure of managing Vinicius Junior in a professional capacity for the past year, and I can say without hesitation: there is no one else like him. I have coached Zinedine Zidane. I have coached Ronaldo (the original). I am now coaching this man. He is a different category of problem entirely.
Vinicius brings to the position of Left Winger / Centre-Forward / Anywhere He Feels Like It an unmatched combination of raw pace, elite dribbling, and what I can only describe as a personal gravitational field for controversy. When Vinicius is near the ball, things happen. When Vinicius is not near the ball, things still happen. This is a rare skill.
I recommend him for the role of Main Tournament Threat, 2026 FIFA World Cup with full confidence and a few footnotes I will get to in the "Skills" section. 1

About Vinicius Junior
Full name: Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Junior
Date of birth: July 12, 2000 · Age: 25
Nationality: Brazil / Spain (dual citizenship, very useful for tax reasons)
Current club: Real Madrid (joined 2018, contract until June 2027)
Agent: Roc Nation Sports (Jay-Z's company — naturally) 6
Market value: €150,000,000 (down from €200m peak, which he is not posting about)

Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Flamengo at age 17 as a promising prospect. He is now the 8th player in Real Madrid history to score 20+ goals in five or more consecutive seasons. 7 He has won the Champions League twice. He finished second in the 2024 Ballon d'Or vote — a result he expressed thoughts about using only three dots (
...) in an Instagram caption. He changed his Instagram profile picture from a Real Madrid shirt to a Brazil kit while still sitting in the Bernabéu dressing room following a 2-0 win against Sevilla, in response to boos from the crowd. The post was captioned "..." His teammates reacted with heart emojis. This is, apparently, how professional communication works in 2025. 8
When the Ballon d'Or results came in and Rodri pipped him to the prize, Vinicius had a slightly more verbose reaction:

Experience
Real Madrid — Left Winger / Occasionally Centre-Forward / Living Controversy Generator
July 2018 – Present · Madrid, Spain
Joined as a teenager from Flamengo. Took two seasons to convince observers he was not purely decorative. Has since won two Champions League titles, multiple LaLiga crowns, and a Champions League Final Man of the Match award. Scored the decisive goal in the 2022 UCL final. Has recorded 16 goals and 5 assists in LaLiga 2025-26 — his best-ever output in the Spanish top flight.
The 2025-26 season began awkwardly under manager Xabi Alonso, who reportedly reduced Vinicius to a bench role. Things improved significantly when Álvaro Arbeloa took over. Vinicius responded by scoring 14 goals in 25 matches for Madrid in the 2026 calendar year alone — more than his total from the entire previous season. 9
Brazil National Team — Forward
2018 – Present · Various locations, some of them chaotic
43 appearances. 8 goals. One Ballon d'Or near-miss. Multiple incidents that prompted post-match press conferences to become geopolitical events.
Ancelotti has moved Vinicius into a centre-forward role for the 2026 World Cup, which gives him more direct involvement in attacks and slightly fewer meters of open grass to run into. The jury is still out. The jury has watched the LaLiga highlights and is leaning toward optimistic.

World Cup 2026 Outlook
Brazil arrives at this tournament as — by their own historical standards — one of the less-favored sides Ancelotti has ever assembled. Neymar is back, sort of. The midfield around Bruno Guimarães is solid. And then there is Vinicius.

When he is locked in, he is almost undefendable. His combination of speed, close control, and willingness to attempt the improbable make him exactly the sort of player who decides knockout matches against organized defenses. He has named Portugal, Argentina, France, and Spain as his top contenders for the title — carefully omitting Brazil from the list, which is either strategic humility or a different kind of Instagram post waiting to happen. 11
I endorse Vinicius Junior for World Cup Most Impactful Forward, Best Celebration That Started a Press Conference, and Employee Most Likely to Post "..." at a pivotal moment.
