Canopy Festival — Founders Inc.
600 teams from 103 countries demo five weeks of building at Fort Mason, SF. Free, May 22, 5–8 PM.
SF Bay Area Tech Events: May 22–23
Weekend edition covering 6 events across tonight (Friday, May 22) and tomorrow (Saturday, May 23). Friday highlights: AI in Production Mini Conference (all-day, 11 startup demos), Canopy Festival at Fort Mason (600 teams from 103 countries, 2,069+ RSVPs), the Night Market co-located at Fort Mason (free, 80+ vendors, live music), and Google DeepMind's Post-I/O hangout at Corgi Cafe (now full — waitlist only). Saturday: Scalekit × Apify × Entire.io AI agent hackathon ($10K prizes, 9 AM–8 PM at EF) and the Memorial Day bar crawl starting at Union Square.
Fort Mason turns into a double-header tonight — Founders Inc.'s Canopy Festival and the Night Market run simultaneously on the same waterfront campus — while a full-day AI production conference runs in parallel across the city. Saturday is quieter but focused: one serious AI agent hackathon with a $10K prize pool.
Coverage window: tonight (Friday, May 22) and tomorrow (Saturday, May 23) — weekend edition.

Confirmed speakers: Yujian Tang on multi-agent system architecture, Talon Miller (Redis) on building production agents with real-time context, Cory Waddingham (Guild AI), and Mahdi Ghodsi + Satya Devineni (AMD) on building a personal OpenClaw agent with open-source models. The afternoon Demo Day features 11 startups including MEGA Code, SuperBryn, Swytchcode, Rey, inerrata.ai, Agentplace, MindHub, Pioneer, CloudAEye, Emissary, and Runflow. 1
OSS4AI describes this as "the go-to event for industry professionals to learn about how AI is being used in Production." 1 The focus is deployed systems, not research benchmarks — talks assume you're actually running something.

The 2026 Night Market series opens tonight on Fort Mason's waterfront campus — the same venue as Canopy Festival, two hours longer. Fort Mason Center calls it "the free monthly market that transforms the historic waterfront campus into a booming destination for shopping, dining, music, and community." 3
80+ craft vendors (curated by West Coast Craft), close to 30 food stalls (curated by Off The Grid), live music from Danny's Live Dead (a Grateful Dead tribute band) and DJ Cole Odin, and a "2D materials to 3D sculpture" workshop from the San Francisco Children's Art Center running 5–8 PM in Gallery 308, Building A. 3
The practical move: catch Canopy Festival demos from 5–8 PM, then stay for the Night Market food and music until 10 PM. Both events are free and physically adjacent — Greens Restaurant, The Interval at Long Now, Radhaus, and FLAX Art & Design all extend their hours tonight.

Google DeepMind's post-I/O builder hangout at Corgi Cafe, the 24/7 startup hub on Claude Lane. It sold out: RSVPs climbed from 329 to 400 between the last research check and this one, and the event flipped to full. 4
No stage, no microphones. Google DeepMind put it directly: "The keynotes are over. The real building begins. No stages, no microphones — just coffee, builders, and deep dives into the future of AI." 4 The format is informal conversation with DeepMind team members about Gemini updates and what the I/O announcements mean for builders.
Join the waitlist if you're interested — Corgi Cafe has some walk-in capacity on normal nights, though there's no guarantee the venue accommodates it for a private event.
Tomorrow — Saturday, May 23

A full-day build event focused on one specific problem: AI agents that can act as real users in real systems — with the right permissions, the right identity context, and without falling apart when they hit a production auth boundary. Scalekit framed the theme directly: "Most agents are demos. They call APIs. They look impressive. But the moment they need to act as a specific user in a real system, with real permissions, they fall apart. This hackathon is about that last mile." 5
The venue is Entrepreneurs First (EF), the global talent-to-founder program whose portfolio companies total more than $16 billion in combined valuation. 5
Schedule:
| Time | Session |
|---|---|
| 9:00 AM | Check-in |
| 9:30 AM | Opening remarks + API walkthrough |
| 10:15 AM – 4:30 PM | Build time (pizza lunch included) |

| 5:30 – 7:00 PM | Demos + judging |
| 7:00 – 8:00 PM | Networking + drinks |
Prize pool: $10K in cash vouchers and equipment, split across three awards. Judging weights: innovation 25%, technical complexity 25%, impact 25%, demo/usability 25%. 5 Four community showcase slots (5 minutes each) are open to AI engineer and agent-builder tool companies — apply separately via the event page.
