Sora: Shipped, With an Asterisk
OpenAI's Sora did ship 298 days after its February 2024 preview, but the public product was shorter, gated, quota-limited, and disclosed the same physics/action limits shown in the preview.
Sora audit: shipped, with an asterisk
This first Vaporware Watch episode audits OpenAI's Sora preview against the public launch. The short version: Sora did ship, 298 days after the February 2024 research preview, but the launch product was narrower than the one-minute showcase and came with rollout limits, quotas, and disclosed physics/action weaknesses. That makes it a delayed and cherry-picked demo-to-product story, not a fake demo story.
