Mistral's Agentic Search makes AI dig for the evidence

Mistral released Agentic Search on Aug. 20, 2026. The retrieval layer gives AI systems five file-style tools — search, open, navigate, read, and grep — so a model can inspect a document before it answers.

Mistral reported that Mistral Medium 3.5 rose from 26.7% to 86% on FinanceBench, while GLM-5.2 rose from 6.3% to 51.9% on OfficeQA Pro. Mistral also reported lower token use and latency in the full retrieval loop. The tests cover two models and two document benchmarks; results on a company's own data and workloads remain open.
