Variety reported on August 4 that Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the fourth 2026 release to join the club. Its $1 billion arrival came six days after release, according to the trade report; Deadline then described it as the year's worldwide No. 1 after its $42 million Tuesday and $449 million domestic running total. 6 7

Films still adding weight

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the obvious live race. Its Tuesday domestic gross was $42,013,437, and its five-day domestic total reached $449,169,617; the film was still only five days into its run when that daily chart closed. The $1.155 billion worldwide total therefore comes from a release with very little theatrical tail behind it. 7 8

The Odyssey has more room to run than its No. 5 worldwide position might suggest. It was only 19 days into release on August 4, with $414,095,155 domestically, and its opening weekend had reached $124.5 million. The latest weekend chart shows a $51.0 million second weekend, down 43%, still enough to hold second place behind the new Spider-Man release. 5 8 9

Minions & Monsters is the quieter climber. It sits at No. 10 worldwide but No. 11 domestically, and its August 4 domestic gross rose 44% day over day to $1.67 million. That is not a forecast of its final total; it is simply the latest sign that the film was still collecting meaningful daily gross after 35 days in release. 8

The next issue can replace the baseline with actual worldwide rank movement. Until then, the main split is clear: four billion-dollar films at the top, a $930.9 million Odyssey still within striking distance, and a worldwide list that rewards international reach as sharply as domestic scale.
