🇫🇷 LES BLEUS, 118 — A Dating Profile
France's 2026 World Cup squad as a Hinge profile: 118 years old, two trophies on the shelf, one devastating 2022 loss they won't discuss, and Kylian Mbappé listed under "my situation (read before swiping right)." Group I is manageable. Deschamps is retiring. They are fine. Totally fine.
🇫🇷 LES BLEUS, 118 · Looking for Third Time's the Charm
About me:
I'm 118 years old but honestly look incredible for my age. I have two World Cups at home (1998, 2018) — one on the shelf, one in the living room — and I've been this close to a third for the past four years. I was literally in the 2022 final. I lost. I don't want to talk about it. Messi and I are not on speaking terms.
I come with 26 guys. Is that a dealbreaker? Most of them play at Real Madrid, PSG, or Bayern Munich, so at the very least you get good dinner conversation.1
The basics
Age: 118 (founded 1904, still haunted by 1998)
Location: Group I, which is very manageable, thank you for asking
Height: 4-2-3-1 formation
Coach: Didier Deschamps. This is his last rodeo. Please do not bring this up, he gets emotional.
My prompts
My most controversial opinion:
The 2022 final didn't count because of reasons I am still developing legally.
I want someone who:
Understands that "nearly won the World Cup twice in a row" is actually really impressive and not a punchline. It's not a punchline.
The way to my heart:
Score in the 118th minute. (I have done this. I know how to close.) 2
My situation (read before swiping right)
My captain is Kylian Mbappé, 26 years old, Real Madrid striker, closing in on Olivier Giroud's all-time France scoring record. He runs at 37 km/h. There is currently an internet meme where he is portrayed as a dictator who secretly controls all of football. This is a joke. Probably. He is fine and we are all fine.

My opening line is Ousmane Dembélé, who just won the Champions League with PSG and also the Ballon d'Or. He plays on the right. He does not stop. He was not always like this. We are proud of how far he has come.
My personality type is: gorgeous in the first three rounds, then eliminates you in the quarterfinals via a performance so dominant you feel privileged it happened to you.
Recent activity
Beat Brazil 2-1 on American soil in March. Brazil. On American soil. With 10 men. I know. 3
Then rotated the entire squad and beat Colombia 3-1. Désiré Doué scored twice. He is 19. I am doing fine.
My love language
Words of affirmation: "The penalty was not your fault."
Quality time: 90 minutes of 4-2-3-1 positional dominance.
Acts of service: Aurélien Tchouaméni winning the ball back seventeen times per half.
Gift giving: Michael Olise delivering a corner-kick that bends like it has personal issues.
Physical touch: Marcus Thuram header from six yards.
Deal-breakers (the ones I'm not proud of)
- I did not bring Camavinga. I know. He got injured a lot this season. It was not personal. Deschamps said: "He had a difficult season where he played less." 2
- I did not bring Kolo Muani either. He was in the 2022 final and nearly scored in the last seconds. It remains one of the most painful near-misses in World Cup history. I am fine. I said I'm fine.
- Hugo Ekitike tore his Achilles in the Champions League quarterfinal. He was going to be my secret weapon. This is why I don't get attached to things.
- I will not name my center-back partnership for Group I because Saliba, Upamecano, Konaté, and Lacroix are all fighting for two spots and I refuse to commit. It's not a red flag, it's options.
What I'm looking for
Someone patient. Someone who has watched the 2022 final and knows that I outscored Argentina 3-3 in regular time after being 2-0 down and then Mbappé got a hat-trick and we STILL lost, which means I am probably the most chaotic interesting partner you will ever have.
Also Group I looks very manageable. Senegal (AFCON champions, complicated), Norway (Haaland, concerning), Iraq (first World Cup since 1986, adorable, do not underestimate them). I expect to advance first. The odds agree. France at -210 to win the group. I have checked.3
My red flags (honest answers only)
🚩 Eliminated Germany in the 2014 quarterfinals as a country. Acceptable? Debatable.
🚩 My last three tournaments all went to penalties at some point.
🚩 My coach is retiring after this regardless of outcome and I have complicated feelings about that.
🚩 The "Dictator Mbappé" situation is technically still ongoing.

Three photos of me
- Me holding the 2018 World Cup in Moscow. I look great.
- Me in the 2022 final, watching Mbappé score his hat-trick, expression unreadable.
- Me beating Brazil 2-1 with 10 men in March 2026. Humble but you get it.
My message to you
I know my reputation. "Always the bridesmaid, actually won it twice, went to the final again, lost to penalties, chaotic locker room energy." But I want you to know that this version of me is different. Deschamps is doing this for legacy. Mbappé is finally healthy. The Ballon d'Or winner is on the right wing. N'Golo Kanté, 35 years old, is in midfield and still running at the speed of someone who has never been injured in his life.
I am ready to commit. I just need you to believe in me one more time.
(This is Deschamps' last tournament. Please believe in me.)
