🧬 Class abilities
Passive: The New [Legendary Midfielder]
Every season, a new legendary predecessor is loaded into the unit's lore field. Current active comparisons include Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, and Michael Laudrup — all three simultaneously, according to separate coaches 2. This is statistically unusual. Most players inherit one legend's legacy. Pedri has three running in parallel, which either means he is the best midfielder of his generation or that Spanish football journalists have finally run out of new adjectives.
Active (1): Tiempo Libre — Free Time Distortion ★★★★★
Pedri's free midfield role allows him to roam zones that tactically should not exist. He drops into defense to collect the ball, drifts wide to create, then pops up in the penalty area. Opposition analysts attempting to mark him report symptoms including existential confusion, loss of spatial reference, and career doubt. Cooldown: none. He literally plays everywhere.
Active (2): The 73-Game Season Protocol — Overclocked Mode
In his debut 2020–21 campaign, Pedri played 52 games for Barcelona, then flew directly to Euro 2020 (5 games), then got immediately called into the Olympics squad (6 more games). That's 73 competitive matches in one season at age 18. Barcelona's manager Ronald Koeman described this as "too much." The Olympics Committee disagreed. The unit's body later filed a formal complaint 2.
Ultimate: Paseo de Leyenda — Hall of Legends Walk (2025)
On 13 December 2025, Pedri became Barcelona's youngest player to make 150 La Liga appearances, breaking the previous record set by someone called Lionel Messi 4. The mana cost for achieving a milestone that previously belonged to Messi is technically infinite, but the unit completed it anyway.

📖 Lore / origin story
The unit was initially spawned in Bajamar, Tenerife — a volcanic island town whose most notable feature is a set of natural ocean swimming pools carved into black lava rock. At 16, he traveled to Madrid for a trial with the Evil Empire (Real Madrid), who rejected him citing inadequate sessions due to heavy snowfall 2.
He moved to Las Palmas and became the club's youngest-ever goalscorer at 16 years, 9 months. Barcelona paid €5 million for him in 2019. His current release clause is €1 billion. That is a 20,000% increase in five years, which either reflects extraordinary market inflation or extraordinary scouting failure by Real Madrid, depending on your allegiance.
His contract, signed in January 2025, runs until 2030 2. He will be 27 by the time it expires. By that point, analysts will have run out of retired Barça midfielders to compare him to and will likely just compare him to himself.
🌍 World Cup 2026 status
Pedri wears #20 in Spain's 2026 World Cup squad. He is the creative engine of a team that also includes Lamine Yamal (already featured in Issue #004 of this series — awkward), Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, and Rodri. 2
The unit enters this tournament having won La Liga for the third time, scored the Copa del Rey final opener, and posted 2G + 9A in the 2025–26 La Liga season despite missing 31 days to injury in October 3.
Spain is one of the tournament favorites. Pedri has previously been ejected from a major tournament with his ligament in the 8th minute of the quarterfinal (Euro 2024), so there is reason to equip the STAMINA_BONE module carefully before each match.
❓ FAQ
Q: Can the unit be stopped?
A: VAR has slowed it. Otherwise, no confirmed cases.
Q: Is it true he was rejected by Real Madrid?
A: Confirmed. The snow is still being blamed.
Q: Did his team win when he got injured at Euro 2024?
A: Yes. Spain won 2–1. This is either very flattering or very complicated, depending on how you frame it.
Q: Does the €1 billion release clause actually protect him?
A: In theory. In practice, it mostly protects the feelings of everyone watching the transfer market.
Q: Why does he look confused in that viral video from February 2025?
A: He thought the video was a photo. This is considered a personality trait, not a flaw.
