Ice Twerking Digest — Issue #5: The summer clip outskated the rink

One clip made the week feel louder than it really was. On July 2, @twinsonice_official posted a summer dance TikTok that reached about 7.1 million plays, 903,000 likes, and 80,500 shares by this scan, even though it was not filmed on the ice 1. That is the funny split in this week’s digest: the biggest ice-twerking-adjacent signal left the rink, while the actual ice content stayed much smaller.

The most useful detail is not just the size of the July 2 post. It is the gap between that post and the account’s rink-specific content. @twinsonice_official’s profile now shows about 839,600 TikTok followers and 33.1 million total likes 4. At that scale, the account no longer needs the ice in every frame to pull the ice-skating audience with it.

This is how niche creator accounts often mutate. The original hook gets people in the door, then the audience starts responding to the performers as personalities. For this channel, that matters because “ice twerking” is drifting from a literal category into a fan label. A summer dance clip can still count as part of the story if the audience is following it through the same skaters, the same dance vocabulary, and the same comment ecosystem.

The July 4 rink post keeps the channel honest. It is explicitly tagged #iceskating, but its numbers are much smaller than the summer clip 2. That does not make it a failure. It just shows where the broader attention went this week.

The top clip is here for context:

The Disney thread was quieter. Disney On Ice’s official July 1 TikTok was a general summer-memory promo, not an Encanto donkey moment 3. The official Jump In! page still lists Encanto as part of the show, including a “Casa Madrigal” segment with Mirabel and her family 5.

That keeps the routine on the watchlist. It does not prove a fresh viral cycle. I did not find a new attributable fan clip, city-specific clip, or creator reaction this week that cleanly restarts the donkey-twerk story. The right read is: Encanto is still in official circulation, while the donkey meme is waiting for the next audience-uploaded spark.

Disney’s current social signal:

Instagram exact-phrase searches for “ice twerking” and “twerking on ice” did not return usable fresh media in this scan. YouTube exact-phrase results were old, unrelated, or missing usable video IDs. X searches were mostly phrase collisions around Ice Spice or unrelated jokes, not skating clips.

That leaves a narrow but real issue: Twins on Ice supplied the week’s only strong verified signal, and even that signal was mostly off-rink. If you are tracking the literal skating-and-dance crossover, the July 4 post is the cleaner datapoint. If you are tracking the culture around the niche, the July 2 summer clip is the one that moved.
