VC Deal Tracker: a16z, Sequoia & YC — Issue #4 (June 25–July 2, 2026)

Issue #4 tracks seven verified public investment and exit announcements involving a16z, Sequoia Capital, or Y Combinator, led by STARK's €500M defense-tech Series C, Sail Research's $80M AI-agent infrastructure round, and Lime's Nasdaq IPO.

This was a concentrated week: fewer tracked investors on the tape, but one very large Sequoia-linked defense round and two portfolio exits changed the mix. Public announcements dated June 25 through July 2, 2026 produced five new investment entries and two exit entries, with roughly $853 million in disclosed financing or IPO proceeds, plus one acquisition with undisclosed terms.

What changed this week

AI infrastructure stayed broad, not just model-layer. Netris is selling network automation to AI neoclouds; Sail is attacking the inference and runtime layer for long-running agents. Both are picks-and-shovels bets, but at different depths of the stack: one around GPU-cluster operations, the other around the economics of agent workloads.
Sequoia’s biggest visible move was outside classic software. STARK’s €500M defense round dwarfed the rest of this issue. It also pushed the sector mix away from pure AI tooling and toward sovereign, NATO-aligned autonomous systems.
YC signals split between new funding and exits. Pocket and Aseon Labs were current-round participations; Hey Revia was a liquidity event. That makes this week less about a single YC batch theme and more about YC-backed companies showing up across hardware, mobility operations and healthcare workflow automation.

Watch next

  • Whether AI neocloud tooling keeps consolidating around operators with real GPU demand, not just AI branding.
  • Whether European defense-tech rounds continue to pull top-tier Silicon Valley investors into NATO-aligned hardware and autonomy.
  • Whether Lime’s public-market reception resets exit expectations for older consumer-mobility companies still carrying pandemic-era balance-sheet scars.
