July 8 Short Drama Snapshot: AI takes 3 of the verified Hongguo Top 5
A public-source July 8 snapshot: the latest verifiable Hongguo Top 5 has AI/manhua-style dramas in three slots, while five same-day launches show where live-action producers are trying to regain momentum.
The public July 8 search pass did not surface a complete Hongguo Top 10 with item-by-item heat scores. So today's issue is a tighter public-source snapshot: the latest verifiable Hongguo hot-search Top 5 from the evening of July 7, plus five July 8 launches that Chinese entertainment aggregators flagged as early movers. That keeps the ranking honest without pretending the missing lower half of the chart is confirmed.
Verified Hongguo Hot-Search Top 5
| Rank | Drama | Format / genre | Platform and length | Public heat signal | What is driving buzz |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 《车里到底有什么》 / Che Li Dao Di You Shenme | Live-action urban suspense | Hongguo; 51 episodes | 4,734 万 Hongguo heat; reported Douyin play count passed 100 million within 26 hours 1 | A small domestic clue, a suspicious car, and a husband slowly reading the room give it a slower-burn suspense hook than the usual slap-and-revenge short drama. The Baidu Baike page confirms the Li Zifeng/Lin Qianqian pairing and Hongguo release, which matters because the buzz is actor-driven as much as premise-driven 2. |
| 2 | 《空置车位等一场公道》 / Kongzhi Chewei Deng Yi Chang Gongdao | AI short drama; social-conflict revenge | Hongguo; episode count not disclosed in public source | 5,134 万 heat, 572 万 hot-search value, 16.1 万 likes 1 | The subject is painfully specific: an RV, neighbors crossing boundaries, and the fantasy of getting legal payback without turning saintly. It is the clearest sign in this snapshot that AI-made dramas are moving beyond xianxia and sweet-romance templates into everyday anger stories. |
| 3 | 《号外，重生大佬掉马甲了》 / Haowai, Chongsheng Dalao Diao Majia Le | Manhua-style / identity-reveal revenge romance | Sohu Video listing; 94 episodes | 5,564 万 heat and 77.5 万 likes in the hot-search snapshot 1 | This is an older IP resurfacing through serialized consumption habits: the Baike page lists a 2024 premiere and 94 episodes, while the July 7 snapshot says a second season is already feeding user stickiness 3. The appeal is low-friction: viewers already know the marriage humiliation, hidden tycoon, and identity-drop grammar. |
| 4 | 《宠物心声诊所》 / Chongwu Xinsheng Zhensuo | Manhua-style pet-empathy drama | Platform and episode count not disclosed in public source | 5,116 万 heat and 525 万 hot-search value 1 | The hook is not romance. It turns pet-owner anxiety, bad clinics, misdiagnosis, and animals 「speaking」 into a soft justice engine, which gives the manhua lane a cleaner daily-life emotional payoff. |
| 5 | 《剑归》 / Jian Gui | Live-action martial-arts short drama | Hongguo; full release on July 5; episode count not disclosed in public source | July 7 source cites an 8.6 rating; Baike says Hongguo release and heat above 7,000 万 4 | This is the prestige play in the group. Jet Li's special appearance, action-guidance role, and the 《墨狂刀》 team connection make the title feel less like disposable feed content and more like a bid to make vertical martial arts look expensive 1. |
July 8 Launch Watchlist
These five are not ranked as a Hongguo Top 10. They are included because the July 8 aggregator article described them as same-day launches pushing into short-drama discussion and hotboard visibility.
| Watch | Drama | Format / genre | Platform and length | Early signal | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 《裴先生，凑个婚》 / Pei Xiansheng, Cou Ge Hun | Live-action contract-marriage sweet romance | Platform and episode count not disclosed in source | July 8 launch, starring Dai Gaozheng and Lan Lan 5 | The hidden-CEO marriage setup is familiar, but Dai Gaozheng gives it bankable actor recognition. This is a test of whether a standard sweet-romance shell can still move when the cast is the main accelerant. |
| B | 《刺史府今天被搬空了吗》 / Cishi Fu Jintian Bei Bankong Le Ma | Live-action costume female-lead drama | Platform and episode count not disclosed in source | July 8 launch; female general returns to a scheming governor's household 5 | The selling point is a heroine whose first priority is comrades, money, and survival rather than romance. In a market crowded with palace and mansion plots, that makes it the cleanest counter-positioned live-action launch of the day. |
| C | 《双面暴君与俏太监》 / Shuangmian Baojun Yu Qiao Taijian | Live-action transmigration palace romance | Platform and episode count not disclosed in source | July 8 launch; source says pre-release reservations passed 155 万 5 | Yihang's two-personality emperor gives the show a built-in clip engine: cold tyrant, soft second self, and a heroine using hypnosis to survive. That kind of contrast is made for short-form reposts. |
| D | 《饲妖》 / Si Yao | Live-action xianxia sweet romance | iQIYI exclusive; episode count not disclosed in source | Announced for July 8 after a July 1 schedule notice 5 | Its 「kiss to restore spiritual power」 device is pure hook design: easy to explain, easy to clip, and different enough from standard immortal-realm angst. It also shows long-video platforms still using short drama to test compact high-concept romance. |
| E | 《归家》 / Gui Jia | Live-action family / child-healing drama | Platform and episode count not disclosed in source | July 8 launch watchlist entry 5 | This is the emotional-softness lane: a rescued child, animal-hearing ability, and found-family payoff. It gives the day's launch slate a gentler counterweight to revenge, palace survival, and contract-marriage setups. |
Cross-Platform Milestone To Keep In View
《苏太太高调离婚了》 is not treated as a new July 8 ranked entry here because this channel already covered its June breakout. It still deserves a marker: a July 8 Sina Finance article says Hongguo's official account reported the 62-episode drama had passed 2 billion Hongguo views by July 6, after launching on June 2; the same article says it had topped Douyin's hot-broadcast and new-drama lists and reached a Hongguo heat value above 8,158 万 6.
That matters because it sets the bar for the new July 8 live-action titles. The question is no longer whether a female-led revenge drama can break out; it is whether newer releases can hold attention past the first viral burst.
What This Snapshot Says
AI and manhua are no longer just filler lanes. In the verified Top 5, only two slots are clearly live-action, while AI/manhua-style titles occupy three. The important shift is not the count alone; it is the range, from parking-space justice to pet-empathy problem solving.
Live action is splitting into two defenses. 《车里到底有什么》 defends live action through performance, hesitation, and domestic suspense. 《剑归》 defends it through craft signals: action pedigree, recognizable names, and martial-arts texture.
July 8 launches are more segmented than the chart leaders. The new slate covers contract marriage, costume female agency, transmigration palace romance, xianxia sweetness, and child-healing family drama. That reads like a platform strategy: cover every emotional use case, then let the first 24 hours decide which one deserves traffic concentration.
