Issue 6: a lamp that looks like plaster (it's not), a $50 table that fits anywhere, and three more finds for small spaces
Five picks for June 8–15, 2026 — VINDKRAFT paper-pulp table lamp ($39.99, WFH/bedside, designed by Paulin Machado); MÅBÄRSSKÅR powder-coated steel mini coffee table ($49.99, indoor/outdoor, 4.7/5 from 25 reviews); SKÅDIS double-sided pegboard in navy + wine-red ($39.99, ships with 7 accessories); UPPDATERA kitchen drawer collection (from $3.99, 17 new pieces including a drawer knife rack); SPJUTLILJA cotton dish towels, 2-pack ($2.99, doubles as a nightstand liner). Cross-region pricing included where confirmed; UK/Japan/Sweden gaps noted explicitly.
Four of this week's five picks landed on IKEA US between June 10 and June 14, each reviewed or reported by Apartment Therapy in the same window. The fifth — the UPPDATERA drawer collection — expanded with 17 new pieces in May and earns its spot here as the single most useful kitchen upgrade for a one-person setup. None of the five have appeared in earlier issues of this series.

Pick 1: VINDKRAFT table lamp — $39.99
Best for: A WFH desk or bedside table that needs a sculptural lamp without a $200+ price tag
The VINDKRAFT (article no. 906.013.04) is made from white molded paper pulp — pressed and shaped, not painted. 1 Designer Paulin Machado pulled the ribbed texture from sand dune surface patterns. The lamp stands 18″ tall with a 13¾″ dome shade; the cord runs 6′11″. Power draw is capped at 5.9W. 1
One spec to check before ordering: it takes an E12 (candelabra) base, not the standard E26. IKEA's own SOLHETTA E12 opal globe sells for $4.99 for a 2-pack and is designed to work with it. The dome is opaque, not translucent — it throws a warm, contained glow rather than lighting a whole room, which suits a desk or bedside better than a reading lamp would.
Apartment Therapy's Emma Dangel called it "an IKEA icon in the making," writing that the sculptural look outpunches the price. 2 Buyer Victoria, who gave it 5 stars, wrote: "The warm glow is nice. Assembly is very easy and takes ~2 minutes." 1 One dissenting buyer (2 stars) reported the shade's metal connector snapped within a week. Paper pulp dents — handle it like ceramics, not like a metal lamp.

Pick 2: MÅBÄRSSKÅR mini coffee table — $49.99
Best for: Small apartments where one side table needs to cover the living room, balcony, and bathroom without looking out of place in any of them
The MÅBÄRSSKÅR (article no. 305.971.64) is officially listed as an outdoor/indoor coffee table, which is what makes it useful inside. 3 The oval top is powder-coated steel — fade-resistant, rust-resistant, and wipe-clean with mild soap. Designer Henrik Preutz built in a loop handle so you can carry it one-handed, and two small drain holes on the tabletop edges (useful outside; irrelevant inside). Weight: 10 lbs 2 oz. 3
Apartment Therapy's Olivia Harvey flagged it as one of the better space-flexible finds of the week. 4 Buyer George (5 stars) wrote: "This slick little table goes together in a snap and is perfect between two Adirondack chairs on our patio. The cream color goes with anything." 3 The 25 US reviews average 4.7/5 — unusually high for a product this new.

Pick 3: SKÅDIS pegboard, double-sided/multicolor — $39.99
Best for: A WFH desk wall or kitchen corner that needs surface storage — and where you'd rather flip the board's color to navy when you're tired of wine-red
The SKÅDIS (article no. 796.235.38) is a new colorway in a two-tone format: one side dark grey-blue, the other dark lilac-red. 5 IKEA marks it as new. The 14¼″ × 22″ board ships with 7 accessories: 2 pale blue clip hooks, 3 dark red hooks, 1 dark red cup, and 1 black tray. Material: fiberboard with acrylic lacquer. Wall screws are not included; IKEA recommends the TRIXIG series. A larger 30 × 22″ version runs $49.99. 5
Apartment Therapy's Cassidy Dawn Graves noted that the double-sided format makes it straightforward to change the facing color when the room changes or your mood does. 6 For WFH specifically: the cup holds pens and scissors off the desk; the hooks handle headphones, cables, and small bags. Additional SKÅDIS-compatible accessory sets in black or white sell for $3–5.

Pick 4: UPPDATERA drawer organizer collection — from $3.99
Best for: One-person kitchens where counters are small, drawers are the primary storage, and the knife block has nowhere to live
IKEA expanded the UPPDATERA collection with 17 new pieces in May 2026. 7 The whole line is bamboo and/or recycled polypropylene, built around one premise: move kitchen organization into the drawers so the counter stays clear.
Four items stand out for compact living:
- Utensil tray, bamboo — from $12.99 (1-piece); modular widths mix and match for different drawer sizes. 7
- Tray with knife rack — $17.99; a removable polypropylene insert stores knives flat inside the drawer, freeing up counter space. Made from ≥20% recycled plastic. 7
- Spice rack insert — $4.99 each; drawer-fit design with non-slip surfaces top and bottom, made from ≥50% recycled plastic. 7
- Storage box — $3.99 (small) / $4.99 (large); four colors (grey-blue, red-brown, white, anthracite), carry handles on each side. 7
Parade's Sophie Hirsh, who describes herself as having a "teeny-tiny Manhattan kitchen," specifically highlighted the knife rack tray: "If you don't have room on your kitchen counter for a knife block, this bamboo UPPDATERA tray comes with a removable plastic knife rack... allowing you to keep your sharp knives tucked safely away!" 7
| Item | US price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Utensil tray, bamboo, 1-piece | $12.99 | Modular mix-and-match sizing |

| Storage box, small | $3.99 | 4 color options |
| Storage box, large | $4.99 | 4 color options |
UK, Japan, and Sweden prices were not confirmed in this research cycle. The collection is available at IKEA US online and in stores.
Dimensions: Varies by piece; modular tray widths are sized to fit standard kitchen drawer widths. No assembly required for any item in the collection.
Assembly: None.
Pick 5: SPJUTLILJA dish towels (2-pack) — $2.99
Best for: A one-person kitchen that burns through dish towels — or anyone who wants a $3 nightstand styling layer that doesn't look like a dish towel
The SPJUTLILJA dish towels (article no. 006.209.29) are 100% plain-weave cotton, 14″ × 20″, two per pack. 8 Designer Juliette Szott, who also designed the broader SPJUTLILJA tableware series launching in July 2026, described her intent: "I lived small, loved color, and was always looking for affordable, personal products that turn simple meals into something more." 9 The two-pack includes a purple-white checkerboard pattern and a yellow grid — both have sewn hanging loops.
They're machine washable at 140°F and can be tumble dried at medium heat, though one buyer reported significant shrinkage after machine drying and recommends air-drying instead. 8 The off-label use that got Apartment Therapy's attention: laying one flat on a nightstand as a surface protector — the yellow grid reads as a deliberate textile choice, not a kitchen item. Apartment Therapy's Alexa Casanova described it as "a low-risk, high-reward purchase." 10
Honest caveat: the 4 US reviews average 2.8/5 — split between buyers who like the graphics and buyers who find them smaller and thinner than older IKEA dish towel lines. At $1.50 per towel, the risk is limited. The full SPJUTLILJA tableware series (mugs, bowls, plates, a dish drainer, and a spice grinder) is set to reach stores in July 2026. 9
