SF Bay Area Events: OWASP, Confluent Current and the Startup World Cup, November 2–8, 2026

A ranked shortlist of the Bay Area's AI, developer, founder and builder events for November 2 to 8, 2026 — the week OWASP Global AppSec USA and Confluent Current both open on Wednesday and the Startup World Cup hands out its US$1 million prize — with prices, registration status, quality signals and a direct link for every entry.

SF Bay Area Events of the Week

Two conferences open on the same Wednesday in San Francisco. OWASP Global AppSec USA takes the Hyatt Regency at Embarcadero Center, 1 and Confluent Current fills Moscone West with 3,000 attendees across 80-plus sessions. 2 Both run into Thursday.
The Startup World Cup runs Wednesday to Friday at the Hilton Union Square, and it ends with a US$1 million investment prize. 3 Daymond John and Marc Tarpenning are on the speaker list. 4
Saturday belongs to builders. Y Combinator hosts a two-day hackathon with Naïve, 5 and Cerebral Valley runs a one-day one with Meta, Google DeepMind and MongoDB. 6 The second of those is the warm-up for the AI Engineer Code Summit, which opens on Tuesday, November 10. 7
Every date, time, venue and price below was checked on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and every time is Pacific.

The week at a glance

Ranking weighs topic relevance first, then evidence of quality: who hosts it, whether a programme or speaker list is published, how selective the room is, and whether registration is still open. Each status is what the event's own page reported on November 1.

Monday, November 2

A build day, and the training rooms open

Fireworks: Deploy Buildathon with Microsoft & NVIDIA runs 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at an address released to approved guests. 18 The brief is narrow and testable: pick a task, deploy a model that serves it, build an eval on your own data, then tune one dimension and show what you gained. The dimensions are quality against efficiency, accuracy against latency, pass rate against cost. First prize is US$10,000, second US$5,000, third US$3,000. Status: open when checked, approval required.
OWASP's training courses begin their three days at the Hyatt Regency. 1 Threat modelling, AI security and privacy programmes run as courses bought separately from a conference pass. The conference floor itself opens on Thursday. Status: registration open when checked.

Tuesday, November 3

The invite-only room, and a hack night that filled

Hello World, A Linq Event fills the Exploratorium from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. 8 The host calls it private and invite-only, with an application standing in for an invitation. The list is the draw: Marissa Mayer, OpenAI's Shannon Ma and Drew Rowny, DoorDash's head of AI research Aryan Shah, Browserbase's Paul Klein, a16z's Kimberly Tan, Lindy's Flo Crivello. Status: applications open when checked.
Make SF Better: A Hack Night with Mistral AI runs 5:00 to 8:30 PM at 33 New Montgomery St, the evening before Elastic{ON}. 11 The prompt is a working prototype for one thing you would change about life in the city — transit, a neighbourhood shop, a public space. It filled at 350 going before the week began. Status: full when checked; waitlist.
Proof & Pour puts the security crowd in one room from 5:30 PM at 135 Main St, three days before OWASP's main stage. 19 SignPath, Zisher and OPEN AUSTRIA run it as software-supply-chain networking rather than talks, with 132 going. Status: open when checked.
TechEquity AI Summit 2026 opens its four days in Menlo Park at 135 Constitution Drive, eighth floor. 20 Registration is free and a US$99 membership tier unlocks the full run; Tuesday's track is Enterprise AI and Transformation. 2,243 people were registered when checked. Status: open when checked.

Wednesday, November 4

Four conferences, and a five o'clock wall of free rooms

Wednesday is the bottleneck. Current and Data Outpost both open, Elastic{ON} runs its single day, the Startup World Cup runs its semi-finals, and a dozen free evening events compete with all of them.
Confluent Current, day one, opens with the main keynote at Moscone West. 2 The programme runs 80-plus sessions on Kafka, Flink and Iceberg across two days, with the expo hall and the Current Party filling the evening. Status: registration open when checked.
Elastic{ON} AI San Francisco takes SHACK15 at the Ferry Building from 9:00 AM, free, with the room capped. 9 Elastic's own engineers share the bill with LangChain, Mastra, Temporal, NVIDIA and OpenAI, on search, observability and security. In-person attendance also extends an Elastic certification by three months. Status: registration open when checked.
Data Outpost opens two days at Convene, 100 Stockton St, under MotherDuck. 10 The themes are agentic data infrastructure, interfaces, memory and provenance — the argument being that the bottleneck has moved to the data layer a model has to act through. Status: registration open when checked.
Meanwhile the Startup World Cup runs its semi-finals at the Hilton Union Square from 9:00 AM, 3 and OWASP runs its last training day at the Hyatt Regency. 1
The evening is where the choice gets hard, because five free rooms start within an hour of each other.
Postgres Day SF Meetup is the biggest of them at 216 going, 5:30 PM at PlanetScale on Natoma Street. 13 Bruce Momjian, a co-founder of open-source Postgres, marks 30 years of the database alongside PlanetScale's core team, and there are hats. Status: open when checked.
The Pragmatic Engineer Unplugged starts at 5:00 PM at SFJAZZ. 12 Gergely Orosz interviews Bryan Cantrill and Diogo Almeida on how AI is changing the craft of software. It is free, on WorkOS's ticket. Status: open when checked.
Robot Learning #02 brings world models, vision-language-action models and dexterous manipulation to 625 2nd St from 5:00 PM, with short demos before a practitioner panel. 21 It has 170 going. Status: open when checked.
Self-Improving Products with Codex runs at Amplitude on 3rd Street from 5:30 PM, with Peter Yang of Behind the Craft, OpenAI's Tony Deng and Amplitude's Jacob Newman showing live demos. 22 146 going. Status: open when checked.
Omarchy SF fills Cloudflare's Townsend Street office from 5:30 PM for a Linux meetup with demos, themes and agents; 111 going. 23 Status: open when checked.

Thursday, November 5

The security floor, and the largest free room of the week

OWASP Global AppSec USA opens its conference floor at the Hyatt Regency. 1 Six tracks cover process and culture, planning and design, deployment, implementation, testing and OWASP projects, with Thursday's new OWASP by Design track running alongside. Expect 800-plus people, a capture-the-flag competition, an OWASP projects demo room and a mentor programme. Keynotes come from Semgrep's Katie Paxton-Fear, Contrast Security's Jeff Williams, Root Evidence's Jeremiah Grossman and Latio's James Berthoty. Status: registration open when checked.
Voice Agents Forum is the day's paid single-track alternative, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Digital Jungle SF on Mission Street. 14 Tickets are US$300 early bird or US$400 general, and the subject is the part of voice that demos hide: latency budgets, and how a decision in one layer of the stack shows up as a quality failure three layers away. Status: open when checked.
SYSTEM UPDATE with The Pragmatic Engineer runs 5:00 to 8:00 PM at The Howard SF on Howard Street, free, from Sentry. 24 Leaders from OpenAI, Linear and DoorDash talk about the automations they actually run in production and what did not work. There is also a teenage engineering demo table, which is where the gear is. Status: open when checked.
Braintrust CEO Ankur Goyal and Greylock's Corinne Riley take Baseten's Heavyweights stage from 6:00 PM at 560 Davis St. 15 The subject is the move from standalone evals to agent observability. It is free and it filled at 353 going. Status: full when checked; waitlist.
Even Day SF puts Even Realities' G2 glasses in people's hands from 6:00 PM, free, with 202 going. 25 The pitch is a display in your line of sight with no camera and no phone in your hand, and the evening is aimed at people who want to ship to it. Status: open when checked.
Downtown SF Block Party is the free one, and the loudest. 26 Downtown First Thursdays closes Second Street from 5:00 PM, Big Freedia headlines, and there are two 21-plus outdoor bars on Minna and Natoma alongside the all-ages street party. 92 are going and 80 more are interested. Status: open when checked.

Friday, November 6

The finale, and a hackathon that ends at sunset

Startup World Cup 2026 closes with its Grand Finale from 9:00 AM at the Hilton Union Square, followed by a networking party from 6:00 PM. 3 Regional winners from a competition the organiser runs across 100-plus countries pitch for a US$1 million investment. The judge and speaker list includes Daymond John, Marc Tarpenning, Samsung Ventures' Jihong Kim, Khosla Ventures' Rajesh Swaminathan, Google Cloud CTO Will Grannis, Microsoft's Melanie Nakagawa and Uber's Sachin Kansal. Status: registration open when checked.
OWASP Global AppSec USA, day two, runs its second and final day at the Hyatt Regency. 1 Status: registration open when checked.
Hack the Feed gives you five hours, 1:00 to 6:00 PM, at Amplitude on 3rd Street. 17 The target is a tool a creator, or an agency running fifty of them, would use on Monday: a trend copilot, a hook analyser, an influencer finder. Oriane's social video intelligence API, Lovable and GMI Cloud supply the credits, and 125 were going. Status: open when checked.

Saturday, November 7

Two hackathons, three weekend rooms, and one US$15,000 dinner

AIE Code Summit 2026 Hackathon is the biggest single day of building, 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. 6 Cerebral Valley runs it with Meta, Google DeepMind, MongoDB, Subquadratic and Fetch.ai on a hard problem: agents that get measurably better with every run, that reconstruct software from imperfect evidence, and that check other agents' work before it merges. US$11,000 in prizes, US$5,000 of it for the best use of Meta's Model API. Teams cap at four and everyone needs approval. Status: applications open when checked.
The Naïve Autonomous Company Hackathon starts at 11:00 AM at Y Combinator and runs into Sunday. 5 You choose a business, staff it with agents on Naïve's SDK, set their budgets, and at demo time show the company operating rather than a pitch about it. First place takes iPhone 18 Pros for the team, a guaranteed YC interview and US$50,000-plus in credits; judges score how much of the company runs without you. Attendees must be 15 or over. Status: applications open when checked.
MakerMods Physical AI Hackathon opens at 8:00 AM at Founders Inc on Marina Boulevard and runs through Sunday. 16 MakerMods and Dream Labs are bringing bimanual six-axis robot arms and the Dream-1 platform, with a target of 200 builders working on robots that act on the world. Status: open when checked.
Ship Happens, from Seldon, runs 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM in a private speakeasy in SoMa. 27 The brief: bring a subscription you would like to stop paying for and build its replacement in a day. More than US$5,000 in prizes, judges from OpenAI, Amazon Lab126 and PayPal, support from Claude, and the bar opens when the building stops. Status: open when checked, approval required.
Frontier Minds Private Dinner with a Billionaire is on the calendar at US$15,000 a seat, 6:00 PM, from the Bay Area Founders Club. 28 It is here because it is the week's most expensive ticket by an order of magnitude.

Sunday, November 8

Finals, and a pickleball court

The Naïve hackathon finishes at Y Combinator: hacking stops at 11:00 AM, final presentations run from 1:00 PM, and prizes land at 1:45. 5 Both days are required, so this is a weekend commitment rather than a Sunday one. Status: applications open when checked.
Rally: Visa Pathways and Pickleball for Immigrant Founders starts at 3:00 PM, free, for founders between seed and Series A. 29 The venue was still listed as to be determined. Status: open when checked.

Further ahead

Saturday's Cerebral Valley hackathon is the warm-up for three conferences that start the following week, listed here only so you can plan around them.
  • AI Engineer Code Summit 2026, November 10–12, Hilton Union Square. 7
  • SGLang Summit 2026 by LMSYS, November 12–13, Fort Mason Center, US$219–US$369. 30
  • Cerebral Valley AI Summit, November 12, with US$199–US$2,999 tiers. 31

How to choose

  • If you can give the week one badge. OWASP on Thursday and Friday is the only two-day conference here with a published track list, and the Thursday OWASP by Design track is new this year.
  • If you work on data infrastructure. Wednesday splits three ways: Current at Moscone West for streaming, Data Outpost at 100 Stockton for the layer underneath agents, and Postgres Day at PlanetScale for the free version.
  • If you want to build something rather than watch. Monday's Fireworks buildathon is the earliest and has the largest single prize; Saturday gives you the pick of Cerebral Valley, Y Combinator, Founders Inc or Seldon.
  • If you are raising. The Startup World Cup finale on Friday puts regional winners and a US$1 million cheque in one room; the semi-finals on Wednesday and Thursday morning are free of the finale's crowd.
  • If the evening is the only free slot. Wednesday after five has five free rooms starting within an hour, all within a mile of each other; Thursday has the free block party on Second Street.
  • If you are new to the city and want the crowd, not the content. Thursday's Downtown SF Block Party costs nothing and runs all evening; Wednesday's Postgres Day is the friendliest technical room of the week at 216 going.

Source boundaries and disclosures

This is a curated shortlist of the Bay Area technology, AI, founder and builder events worth knowing about for November 2 to 8, 2026, the week OWASP Global AppSec USA and Confluent Current run against each other and the Startup World Cup picks its winner. Every date, time, venue, price and access state came from the event's own page, and registration status is what those pages reported on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Where an entry gives no street address, the host keeps it private and releases it to registered or approved guests.
Luma's San Francisco discovery listing returned 69 events over two pages, 28 of them inside the window. 32 Foundercal's San Francisco calendar carried 76 events for the same seven days and supplied most of the Thursday, Friday and Saturday rooms, along with the three conferences further ahead. 33 Partiful's San Francisco explore page returned 33 in-window gatherings, nearly all social, and one of them, the Downtown SF Block Party, is in this issue. 34
Cerebral Valley surfaced three physical Bay Area events inside the window: its own AIE Code Summit hackathon, Elastic{ON} AI San Francisco and Data Outpost. 35 Eventbrite's date-filtered San Francisco technology listing returned 18 events for the same days, almost all recurring networking nights with no published programme; the Startup World Cup finale and its Thursday seminar were the two exceptions and both are carried. 36 The San Francisco Tech Week calendar carried one in-window event, the Tuesday founders run, and that festival itself ran October 5 to 11. 37 The Open Source AI Week calendar ended on October 25 and had nothing left on it. 38
Three things were checked and left out. Foundercal's San Francisco page carries a run of New York events — a Brooklyn Army Terminal summit, Jersey City walks, a Manhattan fintech coffee — mixed into the same day grid, and every one of them was excluded after reading the venue. Bay Area Frontier Research Club session #30 on Wednesday is a series this issue has skipped before for repetition. Pitch & Run San Francisco, Founders Gatherings, Founders Running Club and the Builders who Run series all run again this week and were all carried in earlier issues.
Where an entry says the room was full, the waitlist is the way in. Hosts release places from it as the date nears.
