July 12 Hongguo Short Drama Top 10: AI fantasy breaks the 100 million heat line
Hongguo's July 12 chart jumps into a new range: 《万妖图录传第八季》 leads at 106.73 million heat, while live-action romance and family titles cluster tightly in the 58-68 million band.
The July 12 chart is the first recent Hongguo snapshot where the lead title did not merely win the day; it changed the scale of the day. 《万妖图录传第八季》 sits at 106.73 million heat, while every other title is packed between 57.61 million and 67.78 million. That makes this less a normal Top 10 than a two-layer chart: one AI/manhua fantasy breakout on top, then a very crowded fight for retention underneath. 1
The July 12 ranking
A source note before the table: the public Sina mirror exposes the ranking, titles, genre labels visible in the chart image, and heat values. Episode counts are included only where a public metadata page exposed them clearly; otherwise the field is marked as not verified rather than filled from noisy repost or download-site results.
| Rank | Title | Format / genre read | Verified episode count | Hongguo heat | What is driving the buzz |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 《万妖图录传第八季》 / Wan Yao Tu Lu Zhuan S8 1 | AI/manhua fantasy; Baidu Baike says the eighth season launched on Hongguo on July 11. 2 | Not stated in the public chart source | 106.73m | The title benefits from a very clear season-to-season game loop: stronger monsters, higher realm, bigger map. The Paper reported before launch that the seventh season opened at 94.42m heat and that season eight had more than 4.2m reservations, so the July 12 No. 1 is not a sudden anomaly; it is a continuation of a heavily pre-loaded franchise funnel. 3 |
| 2 | 《野火燎原》 / Ye Huo Liao Yuan 1 | Live-action urban romance / workplace legal drama | Not stated in the public chart source | 67.78m | This is the strongest live-action counterweight of the day. Baidu Baike describes it as a Hou Chengyue and Zhang Chi short drama, scheduled for July 11, with 2.952m Hongguo reservations and a legal-workplace setup mixed with broken-mirror romance and stand-in tropes. 4 |
| 3 | 《发配边关，罪妻开荒养出战神第七季》 / Fa Pei Bian Guan, Zui Qi Kai Huang Yang Chu Zhan Shen S7 1 | AI/manhua farming-survival fantasy | Not verified from an accessible public metadata page in this run | 64.27m | The title is still riding the 「resource-building」 loop: food, land, family labor, and frontier survival keep giving the audience visible progress. The Paper identified 《发配边关》 as one of the AI/manhua series reshaping short-drama rankings, with its sixth season reaching 82.51m first-day heat and the full series exceeding 3.5b Douyin plays. 3 |
| 4 | 《号外，重生大佬掉马甲了啦》 / Hao Wai, Chongsheng Dalao Diao Majia Le La 1 | Romance / identity-reveal title; format not independently verified | Not verified from an accessible public metadata page in this run | 64.16m | Its rank matters because it sits only 0.11m heat behind No. 3. That tells us the middle of the chart is not a clean genre hierarchy; once the No. 1 breakout is removed, identity-reveal romance can trade blows with AI/manhua continuity titles. |
| 5 | 《山野奶爸，大力士老爸带娃记》 / Shan Ye Nai Ba, Da Li Shi Lao Ba Dai Wa Ji 1 | Farming / family-care title; format not independently verified | Not verified from an accessible public metadata page in this run | 62.27m | The hook is easy to read even from the title: fatherhood, rural labor, and physical-strength fantasy. It fits the same low-conflict, task-based satisfaction that has been helping farming and survival titles stay sticky. |
| 6 | 《勇敢后妈，专治不服》 / Yong Gan Hou Ma, Zhuan Zhi Bu Fu 1 | Live-action family / romance drama | 71 | 62.25m | This is the lower-half anchor: almost tied with No. 5, but with a more classic family-and-marriage hook. Baidu Baike lists Zuo Xin and Long Zeming as leads and gives the count as 71 episodes, which makes it one of the few entries today with a clean public episode-count source. 5 |
| 7 | 《新婚有瘾》 / Xin Hun You Yin 1 | Live-action substitute-marriage romance | Not stated in the public chart source | 61.55m | After retaking No. 1 on July 11, 《新婚有瘾》 drops to seventh but remains safely above 60m. Its durability comes from a simple, legible romantic engine: forced substitute marriage, ten-year secret crush, and eventual double-crush reveal, with Tan Yanyan and Ka Rong listed as leads on Baidu Baike. 6 |
| 8 | 《精神小妹也要修机甲吗》 / Jing Shen Xiao Mei Ye Yao Xiu Ji Jia Ma 1 | Mecha / fantasy title; likely animation-led from the chart art, but not independently verified | Not verified from an accessible public metadata page in this run | 58.56m | The value here is category stretch. Mecha is still less common in the daily micro-drama Top 10 than romance, farming, or xianxia, so even an eighth-place hold signals that high-concept genre art can earn a slot when the promise is instantly visible. |
| 9 | 《八零辣妻，揣着四宝撩夫 2》 / Ba Ling La Qi, Chuai Zhe Si Bao Liao Fu 2 1 | Live-action period-family romance / sequel | Not verified from an accessible public metadata page in this run | 58.41m | This is the day’s nostalgia-family lane. The sequel marker does useful work: it gives returning viewers a known household setup while the 「1980s spicy wife plus four children」 premise keeps the emotional stakes broad and immediately commercial. |
| 10 | 《咱家剑宗团宠小师妹》 / Zan Jia Jian Zong Tuan Chong Xiao Shi Mei 1 | Xianxia / sect-family title; likely AI/manhua from the chart art, but not independently verified | Not verified from an accessible public metadata page in this run | 57.61m | The cutoff title still has a familiar short-drama recipe: a protected young heroine, sect-family belonging, and fantasy power hierarchy. At 57.61m, it shows that the bottom of the Top 10 is still not weak; the day’s real separation is between No. 1 and everyone else. |
What changed from the July 11 chart
The July 11 ranking was led by 《新婚有瘾》 at 65.38m heat. One day later, it is not that live-action romance disappeared; 《野火燎原》, 《勇敢后妈，专治不服》, 《新婚有瘾》, and 《八零辣妻，揣着四宝撩夫 2》 still hold four visible live-action lanes. The change is that the top ceiling moved far above the usual 60m band.
That matters because Hongguo’s recent chart has often been decided by small changes in retention. July 12 is different. 《万妖图录传第八季》 is roughly 38.95m heat ahead of No. 2, while No. 2 to No. 10 are separated by only 10.17m. In practical terms, the day’s top slot was decided by franchise demand; the rest of the table was decided by ordinary short-drama competition.
Three structural reads
1. AI/manhua is no longer just occupying lower-half slots. Earlier AI/manhua titles could hold a floor in the Top 10, but July 12 shows a much higher ceiling. A season-eight fantasy title breaking 100m heat suggests that serial AI/manhua can now create appointment-style demand, not just fill algorithmic inventory.
2. Live-action is still the broadest middle-band format. 《野火燎原》 at No. 2 gives live-action a strong defense, and the family-romance entries from No. 6 to No. 9 keep the table commercially balanced. The issue for live-action on July 12 is not absence; it is the lack of a single title able to match the AI/manhua franchise spike.
3. The day favors repeatable engines over one-off hooks. Season markers, sequel markers, farming loops, identity reveals, and sect-family systems all appear in the Top 10. The strongest titles are not just selling a premise; they are selling a machine that can keep producing progress from episode to episode.
Bottom line
July 12 is a chart about range expansion. Hongguo still has room for urban romance, family healing, period nostalgia, and marriage hooks, but the top of the market is being pulled upward by AI/manhua franchises with game-like progression and accumulated fan demand. If July 11 looked like a live-action rebound, July 12 looks like the day the AI/manhua ceiling moved again.
