RT scores current as of June 11, 2026. Scores for brand-new releases will update as reviews accumulate.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is in an unusually crowded week. Two long-running shows end their seasons on the same day, a 97% Certified Fresh spinoff drops its third episode, and the platform's highest-profile new title is only halfway through its run.

Cape Fear — Limited series premiere ✦ Watch It

Type: Limited series · Premiered: June 5 (Episodes 1–2) · 10 episodes total · New eps weekly Fridays · Rating: TV-MA Created by: Nick Antosca & Alex Hedlund · Starring: Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Amy Adams (Arrival), Patrick Wilson (Insidious, Aquaman) EPs: Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Nick Antosca

A Spielberg-and-Scorsese-produced remake isn't a sentence that lands softly. This reimagining of Cape Fear — adapted from John D. MacDonald's 1957 novel The Executioners, the source of both the 1962 and 1991 films — casts Bardem as Max Cady, a convicted killer released after serving his sentence and returning to settle a score against the Bowden family (Adams and Wilson). The series has already earned its logline: critics agree Bardem is doing something worth watching, even when the surrounding material strains toward pulp excess. 1

RT Critics: 75% · RT Audience: 61%

"Elevated by Javier Bardem's manic charisma and the genre's best pulpy intricacies, Cape Fear revitalizes the revenge thriller and manages to make a noteworthy name for itself." — RT Critics Consensus 1

The 14-point gap between critics (75%) and audience (61%) reflects a real split: critics respond to Bardem's performance; viewers expecting faster pacing find the first episode slow. Time described Bardem as saving the show "from streaming bloat." RogerEbert.com called the casting of Adams and Wilson "perfect." 1

Verdict: Watch It — Bardem earns the two-episode commitment. If you find the first episode slow, the second opens considerably.

Star City, Episode 3 (Season 1) ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Drama series · Episode 3 of 8 (dropped June 5) · Eps weekly through July 10 · Rating: TV-MA Creators: Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert · EP: Ronald D. Moore (For All Mankind) Starring: Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man), Agnes O'Casey, Anna Maxwell Martin, Alice Englert

A For All Mankind spinoff set entirely behind the Iron Curtain — following Soviet cosmonauts, engineers, and the KGB surveillance apparatus surrounding the space program. The first two episodes premiered May 29; this week's installment is Episode 3. The show has held its Certified Fresh rating through the early run. 2

If you haven't started it yet: the first two episodes are already available and the show does not require prior For All Mankind viewing.

RT Critics: 97% (Certified Fresh) · RT Audience: 75%

Verdict: Binge-Worthy — the season's best ongoing drama across all four platforms.

Your Friends & Neighbors — Season 2 finale ✦ Watch It

Type: Dark comedy/drama · S2 finale (Ep. 10) drops June 5 · Rating: TV-MA Created by: Jonathan Tropper · Starring: Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman

Jon Hamm plays Andrew "Coop" Cooper, a hedge fund manager who loses his job and marriage simultaneously and takes up residential burglary — stealing from wealthy neighbors in his own social circle, which turns out to be more emotionally complicated than financially rewarding. Season 2 landed the show's highest single-season RT score at 89%, up from S1's 79%. The finale is set on Father's Day at a country club, following one more scandal from the previous episode. Season 3 is already greenlit. 3

RT Critics: 89% (S2) · RT Audience: 74%

Verdict: Watch It — if you're current on Season 2, the finale is right there. If you're not, start from the beginning; Season 1 is also available.

Criminal Record — Season 2 finale ✦ Watch It

Type: Crime drama · S2 finale (Ep. 8) drops June 10 · Rating: TV-MA Created by: Paul Rutman · Starring: Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick of It), Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife)

Set in London: a junior detective (Jumbo) and a senior detective (Capaldi) with opposing agendas collide over an old conviction one of them believes was wrongful. The show has maintained exactly 90% on Rotten Tomatoes across both seasons — S1 at 90%, S2 at 90% — which is either reassuring consistency or a minor statistical coincidence. Either way, it has earned its audience. 4

RT Critics: 90% (both seasons) · RT Audience: 59%

The 31-point critic/audience gap here is wider than usual — the show is meticulous and procedurally dense in a way critics appreciate more than general audiences expecting faster pacing.

Verdict: Watch It — the Capaldi/Jumbo dynamic alone is worth the eight episodes.

HBO Max

HBO Max's week is anchored by the week's single highest-scoring title across all four platforms — an A24 romance that most subscribers haven't heard of — plus a Questlove documentary that opened Tribeca days before its streaming debut.

Pillion (2026) ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Movie · Streaming debut: June 5 · Runtime: 1h 46m · Rating: R Director: Harry Lighton (feature debut) · Studio: A24, BBC Film, BFI Starring: Harry Melling (The Queen's Gambit), Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman, Big Little Lies)

Adapted from Adam Mars-Jones' 2020 novel Box Hill, Pillion follows Colin (Melling), a timid parking attendant who has a chance encounter with Ray (Skarsgård), a motorcycle courier who turns out to be a strict dominant. The film then does the thing good A24 films do: treats its BDSM premise not as shock material but as a lens for examining emotional vulnerability, consent, and how people negotiate their own needs. It is darkly funny and unexpectedly affecting. 5

Harry Lighton is making his feature debut here. Pillion received a limited theatrical release in February 2026 and is now widely available. Most people still don't know it exists.

RT Critics: 99% (197 reviews) · RT Audience: 89%

"A remarkable directorial debut by Harry Lighton, Pillion is an unconventional romance that soars thanks to its nonjudgmental perspective and knockout performances." — RT Critics Consensus 5

Verdict: Binge-Worthy — 99% from 197 critics is not a fluke. The week's single strongest title, full stop.

The Topurias — HBO Original documentary series, June 5, HBO Max — Ilia Topuria in HBO's *The Topurias*, also premiering June 5. 7

Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial vs. That's the Weight of the World) ✦ Watch It

Type: HBO Original documentary · Premieres: June 7 · Rating: TV-MA Director: Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson (Summer of Soul, Academy Award winner) Featuring: Stevie Wonder, Barack Obama; Maurice White archive footage

Questlove's first feature after his Oscar-winning Summer of Soul (2021) turns to Earth, Wind & Fire — the nine-time Grammy-winning band founded by Maurice White in the early 1970s. The film opened the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival before its HBO Max premiere, which is a meaningful indicator of how the industry evaluated it going in. It draws on never-before-released footage from White's personal archives and takes the band seriously as both a cultural and philosophical force, not just a nostalgia property. 6

RT Critics: Not yet rated (Tribeca debut, reviews accumulating) · RT Audience: Not yet rated

Earth, Wind & Fire documentary still — HBO Max, directed by Questlove — Earth, Wind & Fire in Questlove's HBO documentary, premiering June 7. 6

Verdict: Watch It — the Questlove pedigree and the Tribeca opener slot are both credible signals. RT scores will firm up within days.

The Topurias ✦ Watch It

Type: HBO Original documentary series · 3 episodes × 50 min · Premieres: June 5 · Rating: TV-MA Subject: Ilia "El Matador" Topuria, UFC two-weight world champion (featherweight + lightweight) Produced by: Señor Mono for HBO Max · EP: Ilia Topuria

Three episodes track Topuria — the Georgian-Spanish fighter who took two championship belts in under two years — from his first featherweight title win in October 2024 through preparation for UFC FREEDOM 250 at the White House (June 14, 2026). The series has unusual access: family, inner circle, and off-octagon life as father, son, and entrepreneur. No RT aggregation yet, as it just premiered. 7

RT Critics: Not yet rated · RT Audience: Not yet rated

Verdict: Watch It — if you follow MMA, this is straightforwardly essential. The timing two weeks before UFC FREEDOM 250 is deliberate.

Gran Turismo (2023) ✦ Watch It

Type: Movie (library addition) · Arrives: June 11 · Runtime: 2h 15m · Rating: PG-13 Director: Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) · Starring: Archie Madekwe, David Harbour (Stranger Things), Orlando Bloom

Based on the real story of Jann Mardenborough, a teenager who played the Gran Turismo racing simulation game well enough to win a Nissan competition and was subsequently trained to race professionally. The film takes the premise seriously as both an underdog sports story and a meditation on the difference between simulated and real-world skills. Critics found it "solid if loosely told" (65% Tomatometer); audiences embraced it more fully (98% Popcornmeter). The 33-point gap is the second-widest in this week's roundup, and it's the right direction — this is a crowd-pleaser executing cleanly on its brief. 8

RT Critics: 65% · RT Audience: 98%

Verdict: Watch It — the 98% audience score is the only score you need to make the call on a Saturday night.

Netflix

Netflix drops 38 titles across the week, from a much-anticipated Oscar winner to the final season of a beloved sci-fi comedy. The long tail includes a Mamoru Hosoda anime, a WWII thriller with Cillian Murphy, and a hand-painted Van Gogh biopic — all worth finding.

Resident Alien — Season 4 (Final Season) ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Sci-fi comedy · Arrives: June 6 (all 10 episodes) · ~44 min each · Rating: TV-14 Created by: Chris Sheridan · Starring: Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One), Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds Originally aired on: Syfy (S1–S3); Netflix exclusive for the final season

Alan Tudyk plays Harry Vanderspeigle, an alien hiding in a small Colorado town while masquerading as a doctor. Four seasons in, the show has evolved from a one-joke premise into a genuine ensemble comedy with legitimate emotional stakes — which is a harder trick than it sounds. The final season scores 97% from critics and 87% from audiences. 9

RT Critics: 97% (Certified Fresh) · RT Audience: 87%

Verdict: Binge-Worthy — if you watched Seasons 1–3 on Syfy, the goodbye is here. If you haven't started it, all four seasons are now on Netflix and the show rewards bingeing from the beginning.

Poor Things (2023) ✦ Binge-Worthy

Type: Movie · Arrives: June 7 · Runtime: 2h 21m · Rating: R Director: Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, The Lobster) · Screenplay: Tony McNamara (adapted from Alasdair Gray's novel) Starring: Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe

Emma Stone plays Bella Baxter, a woman reanimated with the brain of her unborn child by Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Bella's journey through Victorian Europe — chaperoned by Ruffalo's pompous lawyer, then progressively less chaperoned — is Lanthimos at his most controlled and most wildly anarchic simultaneously. The film won Stone her second Academy Award for Best Actress, along with Best Picture and three other Oscars. It took two years to reach Netflix US. 10 18

RT Critics: 92% (Certified Fresh) · RT Audience: 80%

Verdict: Binge-Worthy — one of the strongest films of the 2020s, now on Netflix. Watch it this weekend.

Sweet Magnolias — Season 5 ✦ Watch It

Type: Netflix Original drama · Arrives: June 11 (all 14 episodes) · ~50 min each · Rating: TV-14 Created by: Sheryl J. Anderson · Starring: JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, Heather Headley, Carson Rowland

Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue — the three best friends at the heart of the show's South Carolina small-town world — take their ventures north to New York this season. The warm-toned comfort drama has held a consistent mid-tier audience with each new season; Season 5 scores 78% from critics. 18 19

RT Critics: 78% · RT Audience: 64%

Verdict: Watch It — exactly what it's always been. Reliable comfort viewing, all 14 episodes available at once.

A few notes:

Loving Vincent (2017) is entirely hand-painted in oil — 65,000 individual paintings to create 94 minutes of film. The story follows the postman's son who delivers Van Gogh's final letter and ends up investigating the artist's death. At 84/87 RT, it's one of those films that deserves a bigger audience than it ever got. 12

Fast Charlie is a 2023 crime thriller starring Pierce Brosnan as a veteran mob fixer who goes on a revenge mission after his boss is killed. 83% from critics, 81% from audiences — it's a clean, efficient B-movie that knows what it is. 16

Office Romance (Netflix Original, JLo and Brett Goldstein) scores a 47% Tomatometer. The critics' consensus wasn't pulled in this window, but a 47/62 split on a rom-com is a firm skip when better alternatives are available.

Hulu

Hulu's week is smaller in volume but has two strong originals — a British comedy with a premise that sounds wrong and plays completely right, and the Colleen Hoover adaptation that became a cultural phenomenon in 2024.

Alice & Steve — Season 1 premiere ✦ Watch It

Type: Hulu Original comedy · Arrives: June 8 (all 6 episodes) · Rating: TV-MA Starring: Nicola Walker (Last Tango in Halifax, Unforgotten) as Alice; Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords, What We Do in the Shadows) as Steve

The setup: Alice and Steve have been best friends for 25 years. Steve begins dating Alice's much younger daughter. The friendship enters full-scale war. What sounds like a premise built for discomfort turns out to be, in the RT consensus's words, "the best chaotic friends to spend some time with." The show screened at Canneseries to strong reviews. All six episodes are available now. 14

RT Critics: 78% · RT Audience: Under 50 ratings (too early for Popcornmeter)

"Turning an uncomfortable conceit into an emotionally resonant comedy makes Alice and Steve the best chaotic friends to spend some time with." — RT Critics Consensus 14

Verdict: Watch It — Walker and Clement could carry anything; together in this specific situation, they're genuinely funny.

It Ends With Us (2024) ✦ Watch It

Type: Movie (library addition) · Arrives: June 9 · Runtime: 2h 10m · Rating: PG-13 Director: Justin Baldoni · Based on: Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel Starring: Blake Lively (Gossip Girl), Justin Baldoni, Brandon Sklenar

The Blake Lively domestic drama that earned over $350 million worldwide in 2024 arrives on Hulu. Lily Bloom (Lively) builds a new life in Boston, falls into a relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni), and eventually has to confront the patterns she thought she'd left behind when her first love, Atlas (Sklenar), reappears. The gap between the 55% Tomatometer and the 87% Popcornmeter tells the story plainly: critics found the execution uneven; audiences — particularly the millions who read the book — showed up in force and found what they came for. 15

RT Critics: 55% · RT Audience: 87%

Verdict: Watch It — the critic/audience split here is a feature, not a bug. This is one of the year's most-watched films. If the source material means anything to you, the 87% audience score is the relevant data point.

On Keeper: Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk, Orphan Black) stars as an artist terrorized by visions in a remote cabin. Critics: "More a collection of unsettling moments than an altogether cohesive story... too half-baked to have much staying power despite a committed turn from Tatiana Maslany." 50/40 on RT. Skip it; there are better horror options this month. 24
