Issue 5: a yellow-green laptop stand, a $18 origami lamp, and three more finds for tight spaces
Five picks for June 1–8, 2026 — a week that saw three genuine new IKEA products land in 48 hours. BJÖRKÅSEN laptop stand now in yellow-green ($49.99 US) for WFH setups that can't fit a real desk. KUDDLAVA pleated origami table lamp at $17.99 — divisive assembly but a likely bestseller. TRANERED armrest tray at $19.99/$15 UK, clips to the sofa and takes up zero floor space. PS 2026 dark-red foldable side table at $39.99 — no assembly required, rated 4.9/5. ÄNGESBYN storage table on last-chance clearance at $64.99 (was $89.99) before discontinuation.
Three new products landed on IKEA US in the same 48-hour window this week — the BJÖRKÅSEN laptop stand in a new yellow-green color, the KUDDLAVA pleated table lamp, and the TRANERED armrest tray. A fourth pick is a PS 2026 item that hasn't appeared in this series yet: the dark-red foldable side table, which ships essentially ready to use. The fifth is time-sensitive: the ÄNGESBYN storage table is being discontinued and is on clearance at $64.99, down from $89.99.
Pick 1: BJÖRKÅSEN laptop stand in yellow-green — $49.99
Best for: WFH setups in shared spaces — sofa, bed, or floor — where a fixed desk isn't possible and clunky office gear doesn't fit the room's look
IKEA added a yellow-green color option to the existing BJÖRKÅSEN laptop stand (article no. 206.364.15), joining the original beige and anthracite. 1 The stand's C-shaped base slides under a sofa so the tabletop floats at lap height — no floor clutter, no need to hunch forward. 1
Apartment Therapy's Lizzy Francis wrote that it's "always looking for ways to upgrade my work-from-home setup in a way that actually aligns with my apartment's style" — and identified the BJÖRKÅSEN as one of the few laptop stands that pulls that off. 2 The tabletop tilts and there's a clip-on cup holder included. Height adjusts between 23⅝″ and 27½″. The frame is steel; the hinges are reinforced polyamide. Max load: 22 lbs. 1

Dimensions: 18⅛″ W × 13¾″ D × 25⅝″ H (min 23⅝″, max 27½″) · Folds flat for storage 1
Assembly: One instruction sheet (AA-2551146-1-100). Reviewers consistently describe setup as taking under a minute — a few screws, no tools besides what's in the box. Rated 4.5/5 from 1,228 US reviews. 1
Pick 2: KUDDLAVA pleated table lamp — $17.99
Best for: Bedside tables, sideboards, or reading nooks in small rooms that need mood lighting without a substantial footprint — or a $100+ price tag
The KUDDLAVA (article no. 106.012.04) is a new table lamp with a pleated shade that folds like origami — white polypropylene (minimum 50% recycled), 11″ tall, 13″ wide at the shade. 3 The base knob is solid beech with a tinted lacquer; the arm is nickel-plated steel. 3 Designed by Lukas Bazle.
Apartment Therapy's Olivia Harvey called it "super simple, yet its pleated design makes it the star of any sideboard" and predicted it would become a bestseller. 4 At $17.99, it's hard to argue with that read. One caveat worth knowing before you buy: assembly reviews split sharply — some buyers found it straightforward, while others described the shade rings as "impossible." 3 A verified reviewer named Lauren said she struggled until she realized she was doing a step wrong, then finished in seconds — worth watching a walkthrough video if you run into trouble. 3
One more spec to check before adding it to your cart: it uses an E12 base (candelabra size), which is smaller than the standard E26. IKEA's own SOLHETTA LED E12 globe bulb sells at $6.99 for a 2-pack and fits perfectly. 3

Pick 3: TRANERED armrest tray — $19.99 / £15
Best for: Small apartments where the sofa is also the dining table, the reading chair, and the desk — and a side table on the floor would just get in the way
The TRANERED (article no. 106.090.02) clips onto a sofa armrest and gives you a small flat surface without taking up any floor space. 5 Apartment Therapy's Emma Dangel called it "a side table that takes up exactly zero floor space." 6 The tray top is solid aspen with acrylic paint stain; the chrome arms adjust from 3⅞″ to 9⅞″ wide to fit most armrests. Max load is 6.6 lbs (3 kg). Designed by Ola Wihlborg. 5
The adjustable width is genuinely useful. A UK buyer with a very thin-armed sofa wrote: "Absolutely fantastic design. Cleverly adjustable to suit any sofa arm width. Feels totally solid and level." 7 One US buyer flagged a fair limitation: with heavier items like a full plate or a laptop, the tray can tilt slightly. It holds a drink and a phone or a book without issue; treat it like a side-table tray rather than a miniature desk surface. 5

Assembly: PDF (AA-2613017-3-100). Some reviewers describe initial alignment as "a little hard"; most sorted it out quickly. Rated 4.7/5 from 38 reviews across US and UK.
Pick 4: PS 2026 foldable side table in dark red — $39.99
Best for: Studio apartments that need an extra surface on demand — for coffee, a book, or a meal — that folds flat and stows under a bed or sofa when not in use
This PS 2026 item has been available on IKEA US since May 28 but hasn't appeared in earlier issues of this series. The dark red foldable side table (article no. 806.210.67) is designed by David Wahl. 8 The tabletop is fiberboard with a powder-coated finish; the legs are steel. Folded height (including the carry handle) is 28″, which lets it stand in a narrow gap or hang on a hook. 8
The standout spec is what's missing: there's no assembly PDF. The table comes ready to use straight out of the box — unfold, place, done. Max load is 22 lbs (10 kg). 8 Reviewer Wendy described it: "These are very sweet little folding tables. I purchased two and I'm very happy with them." 8 Another buyer takes one to client appointments and says it gets consistent compliments. 8

Pick 5: ÄNGESBYN storage table — $64.99 (was $89.99) · Last chance
Best for: Small living rooms that need a side table with hidden storage — and want to pick one up before it's gone
The ÄNGESBYN storage table (article no. 004.978.06) has been marked Clearance on ikea.com and is being discontinued. 9 The price dropped from $89.99 to $64.99 — 27% off, valid while supplies last from April 21, 2026. 10 Designed by Johanna Jelinek.
The table is built around three parts that work together: a round solid pine tabletop (16⅞″ diameter), a black steel frame on legs, and a removable cream fabric storage bag that ties onto the frame. 10 The bag is 100% polyester (minimum 90% recycled). Owners use it for throw blankets, books, knitting supplies, or a spare phone charger — anything that belongs near the sofa but doesn't need to be visible. 10 Apartment Therapy's Cassidy Dawn Graves called it "small-space-friendly" and noted the design is "simple, neutral, and practical, but also contemporary." 9
A larger version (18⅛″ H × 23⅝″ W) is also being discontinued at $89.99, down from $119.99. 10 Both sizes are US-only confirmed for the clearance price.
