This week's produce spotlight follows the June 2026 BLS U.S. city average. Bananas were $0.645 per pound, just below May's $0.646. Large eggs were $2.141 per dozen, down from $2.191; whole milk was $4.317 per gallon, up from $4.217; and white bread was $1.814 per pound, down from $1.830. 1

The wider June picture was mixed: food at home rose 0.2% from May and 2.7% over the year, while the fruits and vegetables index fell 0.2% for the month and rose 5.3% over twelve months. 2

A separate retail-ad check comes from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service report dated Friday, July 24, 2026. Its national organic summary put advertised bananas at a weighted average of $0.91 per pound this week, versus $0.89 last week. That is promotional ad data, not a national all-store shelf average. 3
