Trump Announces an 'AI Force', Promises a Czar, and Calls Safety Fears a Hoax

Donald Trump said on Saturday, September 19, 2026, that he is forming an "AI Force," modeled on the Space Force he created in his first term, and that he will name an AI "Czar" to lead it. What the AI Force actually is, nobody has said. He did not make clear whether he envisioned it as a military command or a civilian agency or department, and the White House did not respond to a request for clarification; it also was not immediately clear how the body would be structured or what it would do 23. The timing is the part worth holding on to.
