Autumn Peltier’s clean-water petition turned a public demand into a visible moment in Ottawa. In a September 2022 petition update, she wrote that more than 105,000 people had signed the call for clean drinking water for Indigenous communities. 1
On September 29, 2022, Peltier brought the petition to Parliament Hill and the House of Commons, asking Canada to act on a water crisis that many First Nations communities were still living through. 2
Her message was direct: “Children STILL experience this as normal. This can NOT be normal any longer.” 1
The original petition, titled “Indigenous Deserve CLEAN drinking water,” was started by Autumn Peltier and called for clean drinking water for Indigenous people in Canada. 3
