skywriter.com leads five picks, June 25 auctions

GoDaddy's Wednesday pool came in at 2,384 names — below the 2,600–2,800 ramp the calendar normally delivers on Wednesdays. That's not a crisis, but it narrows the filter funnel fast: fewer names in-range means fewer that clear the 8-year age floor and the 3× comp multiple simultaneously. The upside is that NameJet's Cloudflare wall is confirmed down today, opening real access to a platform that had been effectively closed for weeks.

7-day anchors. Hurt.com (GoDaddy) is at $337,000+ with the auction running through June 29 — down roughly 77% from its $1.5M sale in 2023, which is a useful reminder that single-word emotional .coms reprice hard between cycles. 1 The Sedo GreatDomains round closes today: overall.com sat at $10,099 against a $99,999–$249,999 reserve, and dml.com at $40,000 against the same reserve band — both almost certain to flow. 23 The week's largest secondary-market sale was HighWater.com at $200,000 via DomainMarket.com (seller: Mike Mann). 4 On Sedo, NUQ.com cleared $95,000 to an end user — a reminder that 3L .com demand hasn't dried up, just migrated to the private side. 5

DropCatch's Tuesday (June 23) session posted $58,766 total — a 59% drop from Monday's $142,307, led by Hardman.com at $11,060. 6 The June 24 DropCatch results had not published by screen time (DomainGang typically posts around 4 pm ET), so today's slate is GoDaddy-heavy with one clean NameJet live pick. That's the honest count.

One domain worth adding to your forward radar even though it doesn't end today: fro.com on NameJet has 94 pre-order bidders at the $69 floor and an EstiBot peg of $518,848. 7 It enters live auction July 19. Put it on watch now while the field is still small.

Pattern: two-word brandable .com (sky + writer) Age: 30 years (registered circa 1996, Network Solutions) 8 Bidders: 37 active TM status: SKYWRITER MD (Reg. 5186993) is a narrow mark covering remote conference software for medical providers — no conflict for content, creative, or general brand use.

The word "skywriter" is immediately legible — aerial advertising, creative agencies, content studios, freelance writing platforms. At 30 years of age and 37 bidders already in, this is the clearest comp-to-price gap on today's live slate.

The comp picture here is thin on named verified sales — NameJet's own EstiBot pegs it at $11,809 (124× the $95 floor), which reflects the model's assessment of two-word brandable .com value at this age tier. 8 The broader two-word writer/creator .com category sees consistent GoDaddy auction outcomes in the $400–$1,500 range, with the ceiling set by direct end-user deals. The honest comp set here is the 37-bidder count itself: that's a market read telling you this isn't an undiscovered name. It's one where the price just hasn't caught up yet.

Bid ceiling: $150 (current bid × 1.6). The room is 37 bidders deep — expect this to close in the $120–$200 range; aggressive floor at $150 puts you in the clear. Resale channel: Afternic BIN + Sedo make-offer; direct outreach to creative agencies and content tool startups. Flip timeline: 6–12 months. Confidence: High-confidence.

Pattern: 5-letter invented brandable .com Age: 26 years (created May 20, 2000, GoDaddy registrar) 9 Backlinks: 174 (Majestic) TM status: Clean — zero results on Justia.

DSAD editor Shane Cultra selected this and noted: "I sold Blurb.com for close to 5 figures if I remember" — offering a same-pattern direct sale as the comp anchor. 10 Blurb.com at ~$10,000 is the same 5-letter single-syllable "-urb" ending format. The 38-bid count at $305 puts realized demand on the table before you commit.

The $305 current bid already reflects 38 competitors — this one is not flying under the radar. A $10K ceiling on the Blurb comp gives a 33× gross upside ratio if the right buyer materializes (branding agency, SaaS platform, publishing tool).

Bid ceiling: $455 (1.5× current). Resale channel: Afternic BIN at $2,500–$5,000; direct outreach to digital publishing or media-tool startups. Flip timeline: 12–18 months. Confidence: High-confidence.

Pattern: 8-letter verb-derived brandable .com (junk + -able) Age: 23 years (created May 20, 2003) 12 TM status: Clean — zero Justia results.

Shane Cultra's framing: "Paying $300 for scrap cars" — positioning this as a junk-removal or auto-salvage play. 10 The junk-removal vertical is franchise-dense (1-800-GOT-JUNK, Junk King) and consistently buys web assets for local operator landing pages. The word is immediately legible and carries a mild self-aware humor that fits direct-to-consumer brands.

The caveat here is real: the current bid was not independently verifiable via expireddomains.net (beyond the public-access page limit). Shane lists it in his "Names with Bids" column, which means there's at least one bid, but the live price could range from $12 to $500.

If the live price is still under $100, the DrainSafe.com comp alone justifies a modest position. Above $300, the math gets thin fast.

Bid ceiling: $150 — walk if the live auction is above that. Resale channel: Dan.com BIN; direct outreach to junk-removal franchise operators. Flip timeline: 12–18 months. Confidence: Coin-flip (bid unverified — verify before placing).

Pattern: single-word dictionary .net Age: 31 years (created May 22, 1995, Tucows registrar) 13 TM status: Moderate flag — "Inline" carries multiple category-specific registrations: INLINE INC. (video signal equipment, 1990), INLINE DESIGN (building materials, 2020), and Inline Plastics Corp. (food containers). These are product-specific marks, not blanket coverage of the word. Buyer risk is concentrated in those three verticals; clean for software, tech, inline-skating, healthcare, or neutral brand use.

Shane Cultra called this "a good buy at $67." 10 At 31 years old, this is one of the oldest domains crossing the GoDaddy block this week. The word "inline" spans manufacturing ("inline processes"), development ("inline functions"), medical ("inline filters"), and fitness — broad cross-vertical appeal.

The .net discount typically runs 60–80% off a comparable .com; shop.net sold for $51,050 last week on Sedo. 5 That's a ceiling, not a comp — but it confirms the category is live.

Bid ceiling: $100 (stay light given TM category exposure). Resale channel: Sedo make-offer to industrial, software, or medical leads; Afternic passive listing. Flip timeline: 18 months–5-year hold if end user doesn't materialize quickly. Confidence: Coin-flip (TM category risk — avoid video equipment, building materials, food packaging buyers).

Pattern: 5-letter coffee-adjacent brandable .com Age: 26 years (created May 21, 2000, GoDaddy registrar) 14 TM status: Clean — zero Justia results.

The phonetics here do most of the work: "Koofi" sounds like coffee, reads as a proper name, and has the kind of warmth that cafe brands, subscription boxes, and food-tech startups spend months trying to engineer. Shane labeled it "Another nice one" on his Wednesday list. 10

Same caveat as Junkable: the current bid was not independently verified. Set a hard walk-away before the auction loads.

Coffee-adjacent brandable .coms have traded in the $200–$2,000 range at GoDaddy auctions, with the ceiling set by direct outreach to roasters and DTC subscription brands.

Bid ceiling: $200. Resale channel: Afternic BIN; direct outreach to specialty coffee brands, beverage startups. Flip timeline: 12–18 months. Confidence: Coin-flip (bid unverified — verify before placing).

Two of today's five picks route to Afternic — the high-confidence plays (skywriter.com and Plurb.com) are brandable enough that a BIN listing in the $2,500–$5,000 range on Afternic's Fast Transfer network will catch inbound searches without any active selling. Inline.net belongs on Sedo as a make-offer listing: single-word .nets attract institutional and B2B buyers who prefer negotiation over fixed pricing, and Sedo's European buyer base is proportionally larger for .net assets. Junkable.com and Koofi.com are direct-outreach plays first — the end-user value is obvious but niche, and passive platforms will generate long tail wait times. Budget 30–60 minutes per domain on targeted outreach to franchise operators (Junkable) and DTC beverage brands (Koofi) before parking on Dan.com.
