In 2075, orbit is a workplace. Ai Tanabe joins Technora Corporation expecting the cosmos and is posted to the Debris Section, the department that hauls dangerous junk out of the lanes between Earth and the Moon. The crew around her carries the show: a chief clerk who muddles through, a temp worker who says almost nothing, and a hotheaded pilot who still talks about the ship he wants to own. 1
Sunrise adapted Makoto Yukimura's manga across 26 episodes, with Gorou Taniguchi directing and Ichirou Ookouchi writing the series, and the result took the 2005 Seiun Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. Two decades on, it is still one of the most plausible futures anime has put on screen. 12
