The $600 lodging credit now covers Airbnb Luxe
American Express renamed the $600 Hotel Credit the $600 Lodging Credit on October 22 and widened it. Prepaid Airbnb Luxe bookings now count toward the up-to-$300 semi-annual credit, alongside Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection. The Luxe booking has to be made with Airbnb through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App 2021.
Four conditions decide whether a Luxe booking counts. The stay has to run at least two consecutive nights. A Fine Hotels + Resorts stay adds a $100 credit toward eligible charges, daily breakfast for two, a guaranteed 4pm checkout and a room upgrade when one is free; American Express puts the average value of those extras at $550 across two nights 20. A Luxe home brings no on-property credit and no breakfast.
Three smaller differences decide the close cases. If a Luxe property is hosted at or affiliated with a hotel, the cardholder may lose that hotel's loyalty benefits and elite recognition 22. By return, Leading Hotels pays 15,000 points per $700 booked, WorldHotels 25% back, Best Western 20% and Delta Stays 16.7%. The Leading Hotels points are only worth counting against a redemption the cardholder already wants, which is the same test the Marriott bonus needs.
